I've gotten several - Burpee came yesterday, Pinetree, Totally Tomatoes, Gurney (they send me several each year), Seeds 'n' Such, and probably a couple more that I'm forgetting. Still waiting on Baker Creek, though.

About one every day or every other day. Most I have never ordered from and most likely never will. How many will keep sending without ever an order and how many years before they stop?

So far:
Tomato Growers Supply Seed Savers Exchange Totally Tomatoes Seeds N Such Johnny's
I do love the catalogs, even though I order online. Nothing beats curling up in my recliner with a tub of popcorn and some tea or hot chocolate and scanning catalogs for new or different varieties, especially when we are in the middle of a snowstorm! I partially tear and fold up bits of pages as markers for things I may want to get back to.

Baker's Creek and Vermont Bean came today. Haven't looked much at any of them yet, except Pinetree, which I made that order from.

Wow, Baker Creek leads off by saying that they are offering FREE shipping for 2019!

Wow, Baker Creek leads off by saying that they are offering FREE shipping for 2019! It's true! The shipping form in the catalog says so too! Free includes US, Canada and Mexico. I imagine they will make up in extra sales volume, I know I will be more inclined to order more varieties if there is no shipping.

how many years before they stop? I call and ask them to remove me from their mailing list and it works with a lot of them. I only get about 2 paper catalogs per year now. I think that one was Baker Creek and I forget who the other was from. I don't usually read them.

I think Baker has been losing a lot of volume and is trying to gain it back. I have not ordered from them for several reasons and for many years. The business seems to have gone the way of iDig.

Since I usually place small orders, free shipping or a low flat rate shipping on seeds is a big draw for me. I think Baker Creek will get more volume from small orders from home gardeners this way. Which I would guess is their niche - home gardeners and homesteaders.
The question is whether they will be profitable.

Is the Baker’s Creek free shipping in effect now or does it start in January? I thought I was through but they have two new jalapeños that I like .

I love seed catalogues but due to the rising costs of paper and postage, I made a conscious effort 10 years ago to stop receiving them. Most, if not all of the seed companies I have dealt with over the years have excellent online catalogues these days. I just have to open 3 or 4 windows on my puter to compare between companies. I dont order more than $10 of seed a year anymore anyway.

I think Baker has been losing a lot of volume and is trying to gain it back. I have not ordered from them for several reasons and for many years. The business seems to have gone the way of iDig. Actually, I think it's the opposite. International adoption is not cheap, and you wouldn't go to China and bring home TWO children if your business was struggling. They were smart to give up idig when they did.

I know Jere did not have control of iDig when it spiraled out and hasn't he begun to distance himself from the seed business as well? I think I am out of the information loop...or maybe just loopy.

The adoption situation wasn't a metaphor. Last year they adopted two children from China. I don't know if you've ever researched adoption, but I have. It's TENS of thousands of dollars per child- close to forty thousand by the time you have the child in hand. I was simply commenting that if the business was struggling, they probably wouldn't have adopted one, let alone two children from overseas.

Have they started coming in yet... which ones? We've received them from at least these stores: • High Mowing Seeds • Seeds 'n Such • Pine Tree Gardens • Tomato Growers Supply Company • Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds Also, Trade Winds Fruit sends out emails with their new listings a number of times a year (including recently). They don’t have a printed catalog.

I used to order most of my stuff through them. They always did right by me and I never had any problems. I give most of my business to Remy now. She gifted me a bunch of freebies over the years, so buying from her is a no brainer. She's such a nice person to talk to.
