daylilydude, mgulfcoastguy, Tader Puddin' is not feeling the love. Rocky doesn't seem to mind. He smelled her and walked off. Tader just got all sad. I'm going to have to hold her and let her know she's still #1.

Yes, she is a super-cute little fluffball! I went all "awwwwww...." when I saw her picture. I hope Tader adjusts quickly; I know you'll give her lots of love to help.

ahntjudy , Tader is 100% mine. The story behind her was like this. After losing our beloved Shelby after nearly 14 years. My wife wanted another lap dog. Shelby was a Sheltie and loved us both, but was more partial to Wife. My wife found Tader and called me at work to see if I wanted a puppy. I told her we really didn't need another one right now. A few minutes later she called and told me she couldn't leave her because the puppy had 10#'s of fleas and was going to die. So I told wife to go ahead and bring her home. Wife told me there were two, a boy & a girl. My niece wanted the boy dog. Well, she brought her home and it took several washings, but she was clean as a whistle. Poor thing wouldn't have lived much longer I don't think. Tader took an immediate liking to me. She followed every step I made. When I would leave for work, wife said she sat at the door and cried. When I would come home, she would jump into my arms. When I got hurt and had to sleep in the recliner, she never left my side. Wife would physically pick her up to take her for restroom breaks and feed her. She's 100% mine. For some reason, she just stays real close to me and has for the last 7 years. It's the craziest thing you ever saw. brownrexx, Laura_in_FL, I'm not showing new puppy too much attention. In fact, Tader hasn't let me out of her sight. She's laying across my feet right now. Wife has puppy duty.

That is one cute puppy! To me, she looks like a Harriet.
My pets tend to get people names, but they eventually devolve into lots of nicknames. My cat's name is Culpepper, but he also goes by Peppipants, Pepster, the Bug, and the Archbishop, depending on my mood and what he is up to.

So far, baby girl hasn't taken a liken to her. The puppy wants to play and Tader just walks off. I really didn't expect her to react in such a way. I haven't shown much attention to the puppy, I play with Tader just like always. If the puppy starts toward us, Tader growls real low. Not aggressive towards her, more of like a warning. Tader says to puppy. "Oh you didn't know"?"Your as$ better call somebody!" , mgulfcoastguy, daylilydude, ahntjudy, brownrexx, Laura_in_FL, september, spike,

Poor little Tader assumed she was your one and only, and now here comes this unasked for fuzzy adorable interloper! Can't blame her a bit for being a little put out! Might take a few weeks for her to get used to the idea. You are smart for giving Tader most of the attention and making her continue to feel like top dog. Maybe taking them for long walks together outside so they feel like part of the same pack? And feeding them close to each other? Or will Tader go on a hunger strike if she has to eat near the puppy?

september, Trust me, Tader has never gone on a hunger strike! LAUGHING! I have never seen a little dog gobble down food as fast as Tader. Our big dog eats real slow. As soon as their food is set down, 10 seconds later she has hers eaten and will try to steal his. You have to remain on high alert. She is never full! I've seen her full only once. This story will have you laughing. A couple of years ago we stocked our pond with fish. The fishery is about 2 hours from us. They sell high quality food that will put weight on your fish rather quick. Every few months we make the trip over to buy food and visit the folks that own it. One Saturday we made the trip and because it was raining, we put the food in the back seat. On our way home we stop to eat. Tader is smart and know how to unlock door and roll down windows, so we always use the child locks and put her in the back seat. You can already tell where this story is going. Those bags the food comes in are pretty strong plastic, but while we were inside eating she tore it open and had a field day. I don't know how many pounds she ate, but she was still eating when we returned. You could have bounced a quarter off her belly. I was actually worried her stomach might rupture. She laid around the rest of the day just miserable. She also knows when we pull into a Braums Ice Cream store and will go berserk because ice cream is her favorite. She won't shut up till she gets a taste. We only give her ice cream a few times a year and usually it's just a couple of tablespoons. She will eat anything! Strawberries, Peaches & Apples are her favorite fruit.you best share or she will pout! Yes my babies are spoiled rotten.

That is funny! At least the food was something not harmful to dogs, -- in small quantities! My last dog was Sally, a mixed yellow lab stray that showed up and stayed. She never overate, we would just put dog chow down free choice, and she just about never had an empty bowl. She stayed quite thin and fit all her life. This really surprised me, because she had been abused and in poor shape when she showed up (intense fear of men) and I would have thought she would gobble food like she never expected to eat again, but she never did.

I have heard it said that cats are either nibblers or gobblers and we have one of each. One cat takes little pieces of food and delicately eats them. The other one just gobbles into the food.
One time we tried feeding them set amounts and one cat would gobble all of her food immediately and the other one would eat some and then walk away. Soon we had one cat that was still overweight and one skinny one who was probably really hungry between meals. We couldn't stand it so we went back to free feeding and let them them eat when they want. Nellie is not hugely fat but she does weigh 13 lbs. I recently bought them light (high fiber) food and she has now lost 1 lb which is good. Our other cat only weighs 10 lbs.
Cutie Pie is definitely a cutie pie!
