Do y'all like frozen drinks? I'm also going to include snow cones cause ... no reason... just cause.
If so do you have a favorite flavor?
or
A favorite place to get them?
Icee Slurpee Slushes Snow Cone
I have always loved them for as long as I can remember.
Our 7-11 closed so I haven't had a Coke Slurpee in quite some time. We have a Quick Trip convenience store/gas station that has a row full of frozen drinks and they are real good. Also Sonic has all sorts of flavor combos. My two, no make that three favorites are
oh scratch that...their is 4 I like. I actually like all of them except orange.
Frozen Cranberry Limeaide Frozen Cherry Lemonaide Frozen Blue Coconut Optimus Prime which is a mixture of Cherry on bottom and Blue Raspberry on top.
For snow cones I always try a different one everytime, but blue coconut is hard to beat

It has to be super duper hot for me to want to drink a frozen drink.
When I feel like I'm melting, a cherry limeade slushie from Sonic is the bomb.
Mostly though, I avoid frozen drinks. Even alcoholic ones I prefer on the rocks over blended every single time.

Yes, but I seldom get them; and brain freeze is horrible. I always get a little too excited when drinking them, then WHAMMO!

Between brain freezes and cold sensitive teeth, frozen drinks are really not worth the pain. At home I drink water at room temperature, and put just a little ice in most other drinks, so they get cool but not cold and the ice melts quickly. The exception is carbonated drinks, which really only taste good to me if they are ice cold. I sip those really carefully to avoid pain.

Have not had any slushies for years! I think the last was at a Fourth of July carnival when I was a pre-teen. I used to suck out the colored flavoring first til the ice chips started to turn clear. I like ice in my drinking water, but a few cubes is enough. I rarely drink carbonated drinks, but if they are cold enough, I don't need extra ice. Sometimes my teeth are sensitive (just had a cleaning - so extra sensitive this week) and then they will not be bothered for a few months.

I love frozen drinks especially pina coladas but I rarely get them.
On the non alcoholic side, there is a local convenience store that sells frozen mango slushies and I love them. somehow the ice is teeny tiny and it tastes like mango all of the way to the bottom. The juice never separates from the ice.
I do not suffer from the dreaded brain freeze but if I drink a cold icy drink too fast, I get a pain in the middle of my chest that feels like I swallowed a large ice cube.

I like them but because of the sugar load seldom have them. Currently my favorite is a mango flavored Frostee from Circle K , 79 cents plus tax. Now I like the Sonic cherry limeade better but it is considerably pricier.

Only one thing wrong with it. It makes me thirsty.

I'm just a big old kid at heart. When I first got married 30 years ago, every evening during summer, wife and I would stroll through the park and on our 5 mile walk home, we would stop for a snow cone. Very simple pleasure, but it made a ton of memories

Hairy unfortunately the fake sugar bothers me also. So I just use real sugar mostly a long time apart. Xylitol and vegetable glycerin and agave seem to be okay, just can’t find any commercial products using them except Halo ice cream.

She's very sensitive to some things.

I don't like frozen drinks, I don't like ice, and I don't even eat ice cream because I do not enjoy having really cold things in my mouth. The only cold beverage (actually the only two) I like because I sip them are hard cider and Moscato dessert wine. That would be it for me.

They all have dye in them too. or I always assume they do otherwise I would have a migraine the next day. I don't even drink pop anymore. never know what is going to trigger one. but dye definitely contributes to them. and caramel coloring.. that has formaldehyde in it. another allergen. and frozen things are cold. that hurts just thinking about it.

Root beer snow-cones I like best...There's a carnival that comes to town yearly that sells them... And there used to be a water ice place fairly nearby that made the best lemon and cherry water ices... Was a Mom and Pop place...homemade stuff...really good... Sadly, they went out of business...

I forgot about popsicles! Fond memories of walking two blocks to our little neighborhood grocery store. l At only a nickel for the wrapper with two that you broke apart, it was a summer treat that I could afford on my own, and bought a lot of them with my pennies. All flavors. At one time banana was my favorite, but I ate them all, orange, grape, lime ... I can't remember if there was a red. Should have been a strawberry or cherry, but I don't remember them. The blue one was last on my list.

This thread made me think of the secret menu item that my kids discovered at the Sam's Club cafe counter. You can order an icee float- they mostly fill an icee cup and then take it to the soft-serve machine and load it up with a pile of ice cream on top. It's a super weird combination, but my teenagers love it on a hot summer day. Especially when our Sam's has Coke spinning in the icee machine.

ladymarmalade, do you have Rita's in your area? It is a franchise and they make Italian ice. Sometimes we go there in the summer and Gelati is soft ice cream on the bottom, Italian Ice next and ice cream on top. I really like it and you can have it made with any of their flavors. I like mango. I loved Popsicles too. They were called Twin Pops and as adults hubby and I discovered a store that sold vanilla ones. We used to buy them by the case of 12 and bring them home. Root Beet was our other favorite.

That sounds like something from Bahama Bucks! A few years back we were at our weekly fly fishing meet and greet and a teenage girl had an ice cream/snow cone dessert. Wife asked her about it and she told us what to order. OH MAN, it was so good. I had never tried anything like it.

They just opened some of the Rita's Italian water ice shops in this area. Unfortunately for them, the temperature that day was 20° below average for that date! I'm sure that the business will pick up. lol
