Will you be growing anything "new to you" in your garden this year?

Of course: two new kinds of jalapeño, a new okra, a new watermelon, a new eggplant, and new beans. There is always at least one thing new.

I will be growing 3 new varieties of tomato, Kiss the Sky, Red Oxheard and Brandymaster.
I will also be growing a new variety of bicolor corn, Delectable.
These 2 things that I have grown previously but not for several years. Based on discussions here, I got interested in growing rutabagas again and I will also plant some salsify.

Three hot peppers will be new; Bulgarian Carrot, Piccante Calabrese, and Rain Forest Tri-Color. About 40 varieties of tomatoes will also be new.

Adding Sugar Sprint Pea to the pea row. Candy Cane F1, a striped sweet pepper and maybe other new ones after reviewing the swap seeds again Flowers: a couple of new varieties of Zinnias, peach leaved Campanulas in white and blue Tomatoes - I have not finalized my list, but from 30-40 varieties will be new to me. adding Kuroda to the carrot row. Probably other new things from the swap seeds. Things like beans and lettuce tend to stay the same because I've found varieties that I really like. I'll try some new ones every few years, but it's hard to break into my favored line up! Also some varieties of peppers and tomatoes need to be grown for fresh seeds after being out of rotation for a few years.

The only new thing this year is watermelon - Blacktail Mountain. Anything else, just new varieties, Little Lisa okra one of them. Only a couple of new peppers. And several new tomatoes - Beefy Boy, Chef's Choice, Chef's Choice Green, Goliath Pio, Lime Green Salad (freebie - may or may not grow), and Stupice. Small tomatoes: Black Opal, cherry Bomb, Jasper, Pink Champagne, and Sprite.

Red Oxheart? If so I would beg you for some seeds if you save some. That was the main tomato grown by my old uncles and all the seeds were lost. Also MANY new things for me.

pepperhead212, the ratio edible flesh : seeds in the Blacktail Mountain watermelon is a number yet to be found. It ripens early and tastes great, but eating a slice is a chore.

Red Oxheart? If so I would beg you for some seeds if you save some. I don't think that these are anything special. They are just labeled Red Oxheart by Livingston seed. I bought them at Rorher Seed last week. The description says "A popular Italian Indeterminate variety grown since the 19th century, Red Oxheart produces large, mild flavored, strawberry shaped fruit that is smooth and firm. It has very little seed. Excellent for sauces and canning" I will drop a couple of seeds in the mail for you this week spike,

brownrexx, I will love you forever!! No they are nothing special but a darn tasty mater! Those are the only tomatoes my Old Uncles would grow. They always saved seeds but once they passed seeds got lost/tossed/who knows. So thank you very much!!

There was a Red Oxheart sold by a New Orleans company from 1936-1960. Unlikely that the Livingstone one is the same. USDA does not have it in their seed bank so it is unlikely that it has been "rediscovered". There are a number of Italian "Coeur" varieties, all of which are oxhearts. Could be any of those plus many others.

I hope to grow a few new-to-me tomatoes this year. 1884, 1884 Purple, Aventuniai, Biyskaya Roza, Olga Pink Heart, Pervayon Lyubov. I haven’t chosen all of the varieties yet - maybe 2 or 3 more.
For cucumbers, Homemade Pickles sounds like a possibility. I also found one called ‘Baby’.
