Threat of a freeze made me go pick all these yesterday. Now my back is killing me! It got down to 31F last night. Not sure if the plants froze - need to go check.

I picked my peppers today and took a big box to the nursing home. I have all I need in the freezer and just a few fresh ones in the refrigerator. We are expecting the temperature to drop to 34° tonight.

No picture brownrexx,? So many beautiful pictures of peppers! Plus it made me feel better for the zillion peppers we had this year.

LOL spike, I do take a lot of pictures. The box I filled yesterday was pretty but nothing special. It was all green bell peppers. However when I delivered it to the nursing home a resident immediately took one and said that they were beautiful. Another lady said "are you the one who brought these beautiful vegetables all summer?" I love that my produce makes so many people happy. I am so glad that I have this relationship with them. Nothing in my garden goes to waste. Next year for cherry tomatoes I plan on only growing Sun Sugar. Every single tomato that the plant produced was either eaten at home or given away and I never had enough. They really look forward to my tomatoes at the nursing home. My Dad used to live there and it makes me feel good to bring happiness to other people's parents.

That's funny, brownrexx - I've been eating those Sunsugars off the vine, as a snack, these last couple of days in the garden, as well as the rest of the season! I picked another 2 dozen or so ripe Thai or similar peppers yesterday. Still a bunch of green ones out there - the green Thai, jalapeño, and superchili are good, but some are not (some have no flavor yet, some are bitter), so those just get tossed with the plants.

pepperhead212, I am not sure if we had frost last night because I had a headache and slept until 9 am today but I threw a sheet over the Sunsugar plant last night to protect it. I keep a bowl of those little tomatoes on my counter for snacks too. That plant has been a wonderful producer and has no foliage disease.

This year's pepper crop paralleled the entire growing season for me. A few nice peppers and much fewer than normal tomatoes (and even zucchinis). Our best crop was cucumbers and that was a bin buster harvest.

I got back out there and picked the majority of my remaining peppers. 3 of the plants had the majority of the peppers on them, like that one jalapeño had the most. I didn't pick any more Carolina Reapers or Hanoi Markets - they are best totally ripe. The one Thai Vesuvius and both Aruna peppers had an incredible amount on each plant, the second Thai Vesuvius still a good number, and the Thai Santaka plants not very productive late in the season. All from just one Thai Vesuvius plant, 10-11 by pepperhead212, on Flickr Remaining peppers on all the Thai plants, and two Superchili - the light colored peppers. by pepperhead212, on Flickr This photo shows a lot of the peppers all over just 2 Aruna plants. by pepperhead212, on Flickr All of the peppers from just 2 Aruna plants, after a few ripe ones a couple days ago, and over a half gallon of dried peppers. 10-11 by pepperhead212, on Flickr
