Thanksgiving dinner will soon be upon us.
Not everyone likes turkey and not everyone is cooking at home but do you have a favorite side dish?
Favorite Dessert will be tomorrow's question.
I have a hard time picking just one but for actual side dishes I would have to say that the stuffing with gravy is my favorite. I only ever make that at Thanksgiving.

Our Thanksgiving feasts are always potlucks and the best side often changes. We have a large family and now the third generation and soon fourth are cooking. One of the married ins is from Turkey and another is half French and half Philippine. Many of the others have lived around the world. My jalapeño/cheese/bacon stuffed biscuit cups always completely disappeared which is why I Don’t make them every year. If I did they would cease to be special.

That is far enough apart to make them a tradition as well as special.

I really like stuffing (we mostly call it dressing) with gravy. Oysters in the stuffing makes it all the better.

I like all the sides, hard to pick just one. But of all things, I do love my mashed potatoes with turkey gravy! I could eat plates of that all by itself. The only thing I pass up is the sweet potatoes if in the syrupy sauce with marshmallows. I do like plain oven roasted sweet potatoes.

Chopping 16 jalapeños, locating good thick slab bacon then frying and crumbling it, and shredding good cheddar cheese can make it a chore as well.

Like many others, no favorite since all are great to someone. We have one which I don't think many have and everyone looks forward to, mushrooms. I don;t know exactly what to call it but starts with a full crockpot of white mushrooms and then add just butter. They reduce to about 50% and absorb the butter taste. As with everyone else in the clan, if she shows up so will the mushrooms.

One of my nieces is vegan and she always brings something that I've never eaten and will probably never eat again but it's fun to try. One of my sisters always brings a green bean casserole that I like but never make. My oldest sisters always brings an apple pie she makes from scratch. It's almost too beautiful to eat. mgulfcoastguy, I'd be sure to be on time to get one of those biscuit cups.

All of it. I love Thanksgiving! I love the mashed potatoes and gravy, the sweet potatoes with pecan streusel topping, cranberry sauce, the dressing...
Last year we added stuffed mushrooms, so those will probably be back this year.
My dad is smoking a turkey and I'm oven-roasting one. Should be fun to have them both on the table.

I don't think I can pick one favorite side dish - I like too many of them!
I am partial to stuffing and gravy, though. I don't make stuffing at any other time other than when we make a turkey - which is Thanksgiving and sometimes Christmas. And homemade cranberry sauce.
