Will you be putting up a decorated Christmas tree?
We have a tall, skinny artificial one with multi colored lights and a button to change it to all white lights. We put this in our sunroom. No decorations, just the lights and it looks pretty.
I also have a skinny tree with all white lights on the front porch.
What will you have this year?

I don't decorate. I am a fan of outdoors trees, and a tree inside the house--albeit fake--never convinced me. I have enough interesting items all around, and when I do add something to the house decor, it's usually a couple of candles in some strategic spot. To me that does make it festive enough without altering the overall balance.

I'm not a decorator, don't like the fuss of putting things up and then taking them down again. If it was up to me, we wouldn't have a tree, but my husband insists, so he gets out the artificial tree and puts it together every year. Guess who has to take it down. He also bought a nice wreath for the door last year, even though we have very few people come by that would even see it. I probably should give away all my old Christmas tree ornaments to the kids, quit using them about the time our son left home. Have thought of dangling them at different heights from the row of bare deer antler racks along the top of rec room, but too much trouble to get them out of storage.

We put up an artificial tall skinny tree. After 40 years or so of live trees we purchased a real-looking fake. It was always fun to make a trip to the local Christmas tree farm and spend a morning or afternoon hunting for the perfect tree with as many grandchildren as were around. As they all are older now we just put up the artificial. Since our kids and grandkids all visit during Christmas, the tree is for them. We also have five or six wreaths on doors, walls and on the garage as part of the decorations. The outdoor display gets smaller every year. It was never gaudy to begin with. I could do without decorations but it is tradition so I go with the flow.

I have all the taste and self control of a deranged magpie when it comes to sparklies. Not shining? Slap some tinsel on it! LOVE LOVE LOVE glitter and tinsel and LIGHTS EVERYWHERE! CHRISTMAS!!!!
okay settle down buckwheat!
Yes I love a nicely decorated home for the holidays.
OMG LIGHTS! We don't do real trees, I love the smell but it breaks my heart to watch a tree slowly die inside my house. Hubby is currently cowering in his office knowing that I am out here getting twitchy wanting to decorate!!

I don't decorate any more - in fact, when that kid came around last month, looking for odd jobs to do, I had him clean all that crap out of my attic, that I hadn't looked at for years (except when I'd replace batteries in smoke alarms, and the like!), and 80% of it was old holiday decorations. I gave some to a lady who sells things at a flea market, but most was useless.

Our trees are usually cut out of our own woods. They were planted about 1970 and it’s good to cut one out now and then to make more room for the others to grow. They are usually 17 - 18. feet tall (our ceilings are vaulted and 22 feet high).
We have had 600+ ornaments on it and most all of them carry a sentimental memory with them. Many, many of them homemade. Many, many of them inherited from relatives. Hand strung popcorn .... garland ..... topped with that special angel. This will be year #50 with her at the top. Underneath it all is a white tree skirt with 100’s of gold beads sewn on it ..... handmade by my mother, at least 50 years ago. Some years we have the very old electric train set up to travel round and round the base .... smoke emitting from its smoke stack as it chugs along.
About 5 years back I got a really, really good deal on a fake tree. $10 for an 18 foot tree! At first we used all 18 feet but it is way too wide at its base for being in the house. We are “over the hill” now ..... Every year, we seem to eliminate one of the 3 foot sections of the fake tree, finding a 9 foot tree is so much more manageable than one that is 18 feet tall.
we have had so many wonderful family Christmas’s ..... but the time has come when our children are grown and having children of their own ...... time for them to establish their own family traditions ....

Artificial skinny tree here. Hubby is allergic to real trees.

When my oldest grandson was in the 2nd grade he contracted H1N1 and ended up with all sorts of allergies. To that point we had all had real trees - not anymore. spike, I'm with you spike. Love the lights and glitter of it.

I think that I like lighted outdoor trees better than indoor ones. We were out last evening and lots of trees were lit up since thanksgiving was 2 days ago. It was so pretty.

My mom had the most romantic story of my dad putting real candles on a tree covered with snow out in the woods for her and surprising her with a walk out in the dark to see it. This before they got married.

never do, haven't since I was a teen. It's quite pointless to bring one inside, I prefer to leave the trees outside.

We had real trees growing up. I don't miss vacuuming needles out of the carpet!
Maybe this is a Florida thing because it's often warm here this time of year (so it's warm on the lots where the trees are kept awaiting sale), and we keep our houses warmer down here because we Floridians are well-known wimps when it comes to cold. But ever since I moved out, even if we re-trimmed the trunk of the tree when we set it up, kept the tree in a stand that had lots of water, diligently refreshed the water, and used all the tricks and additives that are supposed to keep a tree from drying out - still my trees always seemed to be really ratty by Christmas, if not downright fire hazards!
I don't remember it being that hard to keep Christmas trees green and needles (mostly) on them as a kid. Then again, we didn't have central heat in the house when I was a kid. So the trees were kept cooler overall.
Anyway, many years ago I gave live trees up as a bad job, and have been using artificial trees ever since. It's just as well, since some of my kids have allergies that would be aggravated by a live tree.

I have a little one foot tall rosemary bush shaped to look like a Christmas tree. After Christmas I will plant it to replace my previous bush. Very nice for cooking.

Love Christmas trees, especially long needles. Most I had was 26, if memory serves me. Real cheap after 25 December. Just don't want them in the house. The trunks become bean tepees and the boughs are chewed up with a mulching mower for hilling potatoes and compost. Neighbors always knew that spring was here when I began workihg on them. The use as bean poles really caught on to where 52 of mine were stolen from the community gardens.

We have been remodeling for the past few months and before the destruction and construction my wife purchased several things to place in new spots around the house. Thing is it was more than we had room for and we had to find room for the new acquisitions. Now there is no room for the Christmas tree. So far it is in its bag in a spare bedroom. I know a granddaughter who will be visiting at Christmastime will talk us into putting it somewhere.
We have enough Christmas decorations around the house we really don't need a tree to get into the mood. We shall see what happens next week.
