If you could ask Santa for anything garden related for Christmas, what would you ask for? It doesn't have to be small, price is no object.
I think that I would like a post and rail fence around my entire garden but it should also be lined with wire mesh so that critters can not go though it but it still looks nice from the outside.
It should also have a nice gate with a latch too.

I am ready to trade in my "old" 2012 Chevy Silverado pickup for a new Toyota Tacoma. Since that will never happen, how about we get my wife the red RAV4 Hybrid we (mostly I) have been looking at for about a year.
What I really want is for the kids and grandkids to visit at Christmastime.

That is what I drive, it's nice. Santa didn't bring it but we bought it on the last day of 2017 and got a great deal.

First a new wooden fence since the current one is falling apart, then a garden shed for gardening tools only. And last the best wheelbarrow money can buy. Thank you Santa.

Peace in the world. For all the members of congress to go home and resign as of Dec 31st. Neither one of those wishes will come true so, will wish for a successful garden year for everyone next year.

What I really want is for the kids and grandkids to visit at Christmastime. this summer a plug-in hybrid version will be coming out. Check greencarreports.com for an article. 39 miles electric range, all wheel drive , and a federal tax credit.

I very much doubt a plug-in RAV will be in my future. It would run out of battery on a trip back from the closest town. I like the fact it has acceleration but the range stinks. Doesn't sound like Toyota has much interest. By the time a plug-in electric car is developed to fit my needs I won't be allowed to drive unless they also develop a real self driving car.

We are a ways off from having all-electric vehicles that are suitable for rural folks or others who routinely drive long distances. The battery technology isn't there yet. Electric vehicles' range also drops significantly in cold weather - about 40% when it is really cold. So of course the battery-only range on a plug-in hybrid is insufficient for folks who drive a lot, especially in winter.
But rural folks and others who drive long distances aren't the target market. Urban and suburban commuters are. A 39 mile all-electric range is enough to cover average daily usage for many, many people. When they can get plug-in hybrids up to a 50-75 mile all-electric range, it will cover daily usage for many more people. So they could plug their cars in when they get home and virtually never need to buy gas.
And since plug-in hybrids also have a gas engine, when you drive past the all-electric range, the gas engine comes on and the vehicle works just like a regular vehicle. So you have unlimited range - just go buy gas and keep going. When they do run on gas, hybrids also get much better gas mileage than comparable gas-only vehicles.
But I doubt most hybrid owners will save money, even if they keep the hybrid for the long haul. The cost savings on fuel are unlikely to outweigh the higher purchase price and potential for higher repair costs down the line.
Having said that, I like my hybrid SUV (it's not a plug-in; I have to buy gas but I get great gas mileage). And we got it at a great price since it was a dealer demo vehicle. It had only 2k miles but was cheaper than a new gas SUV in the same size class. Future repair costs are the big unknown.

Oh, and I think real self-driving cars are not too far off, but of course no one really knows how soon they will be available. Real self-driving cars that can park and everything will be great - they will allow older persons (and others with medical conditions that prevent them from driving) to retain their independence.
And self-driving cars won't drive drunk or be distracted by texting!

Back to the original topic, if they could magically appear, new raised beds would be nice. DH just repaired mine again, but there is now substantial rot not just in the side boards, but also in some of the support posts, so I think this is going to be their last year.
Given that they are made of wood, were built in 2012, and this is Florida, I guess I can't complain.

If I could ask Santa for anything, I would ask that he add another foot of side wall to all my raised beds, and fill them with a lovely mixture of black soil and compost, and eradicate the grass and weeds growing in the aisles.

Hmm, I should have asked for the wild blackberries and grasses to be eradicated, too!

Everybody would have been driving all electric vehicles around 100 years ago, and ever since, with infinite range. If Mr Tesla had had his way. But the businessmen who financed things and insisted on putting price tags on everything objected strongly, they made sure he never was able to get his system of energy into the marketplace. And they been stopping the same technology ever since even though in secret it's been developed to no end. Oh well, energy industry rules the world for money. I'd ask Santa for a huge greenhouse complex heated with sonic resonance heaters and all outfitted with full automatic environmental controls. Oh but that would cost something. maybe a million dollars. But at least it would be cheap to run and end up making quite a profit in winter produce sales.

Enough raised beds so my garden isn't constantly under water. Or rice seed >,<
What I would really like (besides the raised beds) is a garden shed out by my garden!

With the arctic air flowing into the midwest yesterday and today I have realized I need a couple more flannel shirts to keep a little warmer. I remembered we gave two or three to the used clothing outlet because they started shrinking all of a sudden after they got to be ten years old. I hope Santa will remember to get some that don't shrink so quickly as the last ones.

My trousers I recall wearing in size 32, then 33--34---35--36. Now 36 is getting a bit snug and they have to be relaxed fit to not be too restrictive. Hope I can get things to back off a little next year as I grow more fresh food and eat it. Consume less of the fattening ingredients. But I like fattening foods. Oh well. Maters and melons are pretty good.
Can I ask Santa for a great big caterpillar dozer machine to help me clear land? I could I guess. But it probably wouldn't help none. After all his sleigh isn't a heavy hauler lowboy truck. LOL!!

I need a half dozen of his elves to come help me spread wood chips, increase my garden beds, build some berry trellises, install a garden border and bird house, and maybe plant another couple fruit trees.
