I have noticed that a few members here have grown this variety of sweet pepper, do you care to share any details about it... taste, plant size, cooking/canning with it, or just in general how you use this pepper?

I have grown Aconcagua for at least 15 years every year. It is my absolute favorite pepper. GA is the sweetest of the sweet with very little aftertaste. For me it has a fruity almost apple flavor. The fruit has been 8 to 10 inches long and when sliced down the middle it would be 4 or 5 inches wide. I love to put GA on any sandwich; great with hamburgers, ham, tuna, egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches. We only eat them raw and they are good as green or as they ripen. Most don't make it that long.
The plant can get very large and with the excellent production it needs support. I use those large tomato cones (which are useless for tomatoes but great for peppers)but the plants can grow out of even those.

Only grew them one year. They were so beautiful but the Pepper Maggots got into them and destroyed them.

I grew them a few years ago to compare with Corno di Toro Giallo, a longish pointed yellow, which is my favorite of that type. As I recall, Aconcagua were longer, and a paler yellow when ripe, not as flavorful to me. I should find the seeds and try them again in a better spot, I may have only had the one plant, and paulf's recommendation means a lot!

I grew those many years ago, next to that same sweet pepper, september! I also found that they were ok, but not as flavorful or productive as corno di toro, so I never grew them again. They were very late here - another thing I didn't like. But it seemed that they did better, once it got cooler - not sure if they were just very late, or did better with cool; either way, not for me.
