It doesn't matter if it's getting home from work, school, or just having some other kind of busy and/or stressful day. What do YOU do to unwind and truly relax?

Puttering around in the garden when weather permits. If I am trying to relax, I tend to do more daydreaming than hard work. I do simple, easy tasks like transplanting, light pruning, or tying plants up while my mind wanders.

Am quite blessed, there are a number of things that help me relax. For sure working in the garden, would be one. Time spent with the pup on my lap is great, tho at about sixteen months, he is a lap full. It has always been very relaxing to spend a day out on the farm, spending eight or ten hours on a tractor. RV travel, except when around big cities, crowded or noisy RV parks. Time spent in my wood shop. For sure, not at the bottom of the list, would be soaking in a tube of hot water. Very relaxing just to set on the deck and watch the world go by, till I look out and see something that should be done. Very relaxing to spend time with the two neighbor ladies, neighbors by when my farm was.

Sitting in a quiet house at a comfortable temperature reading a good book.

Sitting on a cushion on the ground, doing light weeding in a thriving garden, admiring the new growth as I go. Since that is only possible for a few months out of the year, an alternative in cold weather, is a nap in bed with a good book until I fall asleep. In the summer, laying in my hammock in the shade, watching the birds and activity on our lake. If I have any nervous energy I need to get rid of, a walk in our woods helps.

Usually watching TV works for me. It actually relaxes me to the point that I fall asleep.

Unwinding and relaxing are two very different things for me. I unwind every day after work with a long, hot shower. This is an extremely important part of my day. While I'm showering I think about anything that may have gone poorly during the day and think about how I might fix it the next. There's something to the process of thinking negative thoughts and letting them "wash" out of me while I shower. If I don't unwind, I can't leave work at work, and that affects my sleep too much. After I've properly unwound, I like to watch an episode of a TV series to relax- whatever series I'm currently enjoying. I've recently watched all of The Handmaid's Tale, The Great British Baking Show, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Once Upon a Time, The Good Place, Unorthodox, and I'm currently watching Anne with an E. Quite the gamut of TV shows! I was thinking once I was finished with Anne I might search out The Waltons. Anyone remember that one?
