I love beautifully colored beans. Too bad they turn brown with cooking! Me too. You sent me some multi-colored beans one time that were beautiful until they were cooked. I can't remember the name.

I don't remember what I sent either bestofour, but when I first started growing dry beans I grew the prettiest colors that I could find. I was really into the color thing and one year I made soup mixes for Christmas gifts. DSC00504 by Brownrexx, on Flickr DSC00621 by Brownrexx, on Flickr

rdback, that's really cool, especially since those beans were bred for organic farming/gardening. More yield in the same space with fewer inputs is a good thing.

Those photos almost make me want to grow a few bean plants. Very pretty and unique. Can those different beans be grown in the same area and still retain their separate colors?

Love those beans. brownrexx, beans "sort of" retain their colors when cooked if you eat them fresh. By this I mean you pick them when they are mature but have not started to dry yet, shell them and cook as usual. Beans are actually tastier fresh than dry.

Can those different beans be grown in the same area and still retain their separate colors? I don't grow them super close to each other and they are self pollinating so mine did retain their colors even when I saved seeds. octave1, I grew some called yellow eye that retained the eye color pretty well but the rest of the bean was white so it was a lighter color when cooked. My other beans did retain some of their markings but it was faint after cooking and nothing pretty like the dried ones. Here are the yellow eye ones 20180826_190255 by Brownrexx, on Flickr
