...your peanut butter might have been recalled.
And, of course, guess what's on my shelf.
AND, I already ate half of it!

Two huge jars of Skippy in the cupboard...no worries here.

I have two big jars of Jif matching the recall notice in my pantry right now. They were from a twin pack (manufactured at the same time and packaged together). We have already eaten nearly all of the first jar. Son #4 has eaten most of it; he has 2 PB&Js basically every day and has been healthy. If anybody was going to get sick from that particular jar, they already would have.
The unopened jar is another matter, though.
Of course, the recall means that there is NO replacement Jif to be found anywhere. Son #4 is very particular about his peanut butter for his daily PB&Js. So he is going to have to learn to live with disappointment - either no PB or a PB he doesn't like as much - until Jif is back in stock.

I guess that I'm lucky to use almond butter then.

I buy store brand peanut butter that is made with only 2 ingredients: peanuts and salt. Any other kind is too unpalatable to me.

Not even gonna bother looking to see if our jar of Jiff has been recalled or not. It is almost empty so to late for us

Of course a recall doesn't mean that every (or even most) jars are contaminated. Only that they can't rule out the possibility of contamination in the affected products and lots.
If you've eaten most of the jar and haven't gotten sick, I wouldn't worry about it.

So far as I can tell from the stories no one has gotten sick. IMHO there are way too many "save us from ourselves" situations. It must be an abundance of precaution to offset the possibility of extreme lawsuits.
edit: I just read 4 people have shown symptoms after eating Jif, none serious. One other ate a different peanut butter. Fourteen total people have symptoms not related to Jif. This is a quote from the CDC: "an analysis based on a 2010 environmental sample has linked the current strain to the plant" that produces Jif.
Looks like twelve years ago there was a sample taken that may or may not link the production facility to a possible problem. And that's a reason to shut down production? If I liked Jif I would eat it with no reservations. This is crazy!

I don’t buy Jif.
I eat a 2 to 3 large jars a month. I buy the cheap peanut butter from Sam’s. I think it’s called Members Mark or something like that. I used to buy a peanut butter from Canada, but switched due to the price difference since I eat so much of it. The Canadian PB was actually better in taste, but the Sam’s brand isn’t bad.
I have found a syrup that’s just like light Karo except it’s made from 100% apples. It’s freaking awesome! It’s freaking expensive too, but sheesh it’s good!
I LOVE peanut butter !!!

Thanks, rdback. I checked our peanut butter stash. We have a large stock of Skippy. Cool! Whenever we get to the city, we pick lots of groceries at way better prices than our one supermarket in town. I'm not counting our two dollar stores, nor the liquor store. 😉 In March of 2020 just as the pandemic was starting, our store raised its already high prices. They saw their opportunity to gouge. I forgot about Canadian peanut butter hairymooseknuckles. When Mom used to spend most of the Summer in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (the UP), she brought home Canadian P Butter that was really tasty. When we opened the jar, it had a peanut sitting on top of the peanut butter! 😆

I just opened my only container of Jif, and I had dated it 1-21, so it's not in the recall! And it tastes fine - listed as best by 10-24.

Speaking of peanut butter. As a youngster, I always wanted to try the jars of premixed peanut butter & jelly. Mom never bought any, so when I got older, I bought a jar. That had to be the worst stuff ever or at least I sure didn’t like it.
I do like PB & J, but I like to mix my own. I actually don’t mix it up. I like a layer of peanut butter, then slather on some jelly.
My sandwiches are sort of a ritual.
First, I cut off the crust and set the bread aside. Then I take a bowl and put in some peanut butter, add a pat of butter and mix well. Slather it on the bread, then add jam. Get out my cast iron skillet and put it on to heat with a big pat of butter. When the butter has melted, add my sandwich and toast it up brown on both sides.
I really don’t care for light bread. That’s my family’s lingo for store bought bread. I’m not sure why they called it that, but they did and I do.
I had to explain to my wife what light bread was way back when. She’s a big lover of bread. I told her I didn’t like light bread and she began to explain that she bought normal bread not lite.
Picture Ricky Ricardo shaking his head at Lucy. Ah Yi Yi!
Oh yeah. I’m hungry!
