What do you do to relieve stress? How do you de-stress after you've returned home at the end of the day... What has worked for you?

I pick up a knife and whittle. Depends on just how stressed I am whether it helps or not. I used to hit the bag, but I don’t have a punching bag any more, plus my back and shoulder say no to that!

I would like to say going out into the garden but I don't do that. I like to read to relieve stress. Turn off the TV, load up on diet soda and snacks and pick up the latest book(or kindle)...I have a couple hundred books waiting to read. Most times a nap enters into the equation. Seventeen years of retirement has been good stress relief.
In my working days, going out for a good run listening to some good old time rock(60s-early 70s...pre disco and rap) music helped.

Oh I would love to have a nice little story how I quilt or meditate or something but no. I eat >,< I stress eat like nobody's business. Fortunately my thyroid is garbage so I don't gain weight from my stress eating. I am sadly not losing weight either.
Now if we are just talking about reasonable amounts of stress, I play with Hershey.

I have a friend about two towns over from me. He has a saying.
The best thing for your insides is outside.

I really do like to go out into my garden and check on things as well as listen to the birds.
Of course eating something sweet helps too!

Being in my garden/yard, watching my birdfeeder, talking to a friend or my husband about my stress, and prayer/worship work for me.

Reading, watching TV (or any sort of distraction), talking to my hubby or kids, and - when it's not miserably hot - puttering in the garden. I try not to stress eat, but I do...

My dog does his best. Correcting a bigoted idiot who was spreading lies about electric cars today helped some. Being able to factually answer all of his questions about where lithium comes from, the life span of batteries, and how much electricity your house uses to charge an electric car(about as much as running your stove).

september, I admire people talented enough to do something like that, but I ain’t one of them. I wouldn’t be able to accomplish something like that with a good set of eyes.
