This time of year we experience some nasty bug invasions. Mostly stink bugs and asian ladybugs. They seem to swarm to the house looking to overwinter. They like to congregate on soybeans during the year but after the soybean harvest they flock to our house...well, everyone's house. But these guys are welcome. We love Walking Sticks and Praying Mantis. These are the "good guys". This good guy (actually girl) showed up on the potted plants on the front porch yesterday. She may be looking for a place to lay eggs. Most of what we have seen this year have been small green ones and lots of brown mantids. This one is about six inches long and almost tame. She just sits there and watches us watching her; her head is on a swivel making sure we are not going to get her, but does not move.
