I am sure you were all relieved that you finally scraped me off the bottom of your shoe like that dangling bit of toilet paper or that bit of dog poo you stepped in, BUT, sorry to ruin your day, I'll be back (said in my best Arnold voice cause who can actually spell Schwarztensgresger?)
Being the holidays and all, I have refused to allow 2022 to totally crush my soul. It did try >,< Christmas parties, the phew is turning 52 and my baby is graduating this Sunday from OSU!! O-H . . . I-O WOO
Bottom line? Enjoy the quiet while you can.

I think several have been tied up with other more important things to do rather than visit the site. Me, I let my wife do all the heavy duty tasks and I cruise around the net. Me and the gardening stuff are taking a break until February or March.
A cool thing happened a couple of days ago. We got a knock on the door and a whole family was outside. It was a Mennonite family from the area that I give all my left-over tomato plants. I have done this for several years and am very happy to give things away rather than chuck them into the compost. At the door that said they would like to give us a gift and sing some Christmas carols. Expecting a sermon we still invited them into the house. Lo and behold, the family, Mom and Dad and three adult children began to sing. Very nice voices and after a few carols they handed us a bag of Christmas goodies and a gift card for some free doughnuts from their doughnut wagon that frequents the area. Hurts Donut is outdone by these guys. Lots of thank-yous and Merry Christmasses later they were off to spread joy somewhere else. I even promised to grow a few cherry tomatoes next season just for them since the lady says she likes those best. Hope I didn't give them all away since cherries are not my thing.
Merry Christmas to you, my good friends!

spike, I did miss you! I assumed that since this is the dead gardening season for most everyone, people were off enjoying the holidays or just staying busy with everything else in life. I figured everyone would start hanging around here more when you all start getting tired of winter and really missing seeing green and having dirt under your fingernails. But I'll be checking in regularly all winter to see what shenanigans everyone is getting up to. paulf, that's a sweet Christmas story. Nice neighbors are a joy. Merry Christmas to all of you!

paulf , I love that story. Over the last few years we have stopped gifting adults and only buy gifts for the grandkids. It is so much more peaceful and stress free that way. I love the idea of gifts of food and song and it is the real meaning of Christmas for me. Rather than buy gifts we donate the money we would have spent on gifts to our favorite charities which are the Audubon Society, Nature conservancy and a few other local charities. The gardening season is done for me too except that I still have some leaf lettuce under cover and I intend to pick it for a Christmas Eve salad to go with out traditional lasagna made with my home grown and frozen tomatoes. Once the gardening season is over I transition into cooking season and I enjoy using my home grown produce. I also have more time to fiddle with new recipes since I am not pulling weeds and tending the garden. I do like the break but I wouldn't mind if we had a shorter "off season".

I’ve been sick for over 3 weeks. Way before turkey day. Yesterday was the first day I haven’t coughed up a lung. Sinusitis is what they named it. I sneezed, coughed, my head was stopped up, ears full of fluid and burned like crazy. I wasn’t sure I was going to shake it.
But yeah, I missed everybody

Amazing how our small group actually cares about each other. What a time it would be for us all able to get together in person to put faces and personalities to the names. I would love to raise my glass of Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper in a toast to all of us...OK, sappy time is over. Those that know this old grouch would express how out of character the last statement is.

I wish we could do that, too! It's a shame we all live so far apart that it's impractical.

That would be fun but I vote for meeting in FL in the winter. No way am I going to Nebraska or Wisconsin! My home state of PA is not the greatest in winter either.

Finally got Christmas shopping done after a last minute addition, niece number two will be flying in from overseas. That necessitated an additional trip looking for something small enough that it would fit in her suitcase for the return trip. Nope, no diamond studs, I imagine that she makes 2 or 3 times my pension and can buy her own.
