We had the best music of ANY decade before or since. One of the last great bands of the 80’s. Great music would soon be gone. Time was ticking.

Au Contrare mi amigo! Eighties were OK, but not great. Not many 80s bands still going while 60s and early 70s bands still on tour and breaking attendance records...those who are still living anyway. This is about the time I went back in time and "discovered" the blues. These guys don't hold a candle to Gary Moore.

Are you kidding? These guys make Country sound good.
I tend not to listen to complete albums. Most bands only have a handful of good songs. There are exceptions of course. Def Leppard is one exception to that rule. Both Pyromania and Hysteria were awesome from start to finish.
I agree lots of good 70’s bands! None better than Skynyrd. Foghat, April Wine, Thin Lizzy, The Nuge.

I can tell you exactly where I was the first time I heard this! Unfortunately, I didn’t care for many of their other songs.

LOL come on! I love Weird Al!! The very first concert my children attended, I drug them to a Weird Al concert and it was amazing. I also love all kinds of music. Rock, Classic, Pop, Hop, MOTOWN, Disco, Opera, etc. Hubs refuses to even touch my MP3 player. If it has a beat I can wiggle to or a melody I can lose myself in, I am so there. I know so many people that are "music snobs" that will only listen to one type of music and I find that so sad. No not all music is good but it isn't all bad either.

spike, I’m pretty much a music snob. I can’t listen to much of the stuff from this century. Are you serious about weird al doing concerts? Does he really?

Now you guys have me in the music memory mode. My all time favorite blues band is an underrated and under listened to group that saw many big names get their start in the band; Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Bad week for two more of my musical heroes: Jeff Beck and David Crosby. The best guitar player ever and part of the group in the first vinyl album I ever bought, Crosby, Stills and Nash.

I feel the need to also add that yes I have been to a couple of Weird Al concerts but I have also bee to ELO, KISS, Tod Rundgren, Kenny Rogers, Black Sabbath (OZZY), Blue Oyster Cult to name a few. I am always accused of my "fecal material" taste in music, but I think my taste is well rounded. paulf, OH I so feel your pain.

Yeah, paulf, I know a lot of music lovers are sad this week about Jeff Beck and David Crosby passing on. spike, I love Weird Al. Never had a chance to see him in concert, though. His parodies are hilarious if you're familiar with the song he's parodying, and especially if you've also watched the video for the original song. "Amish Paradise" cracked me up, and the scene in "Smells Like Nirvana" when Al sings and marbles come out of his mouth just about made me roll. (I always hated "mumble rock", so I really appreciated that one.)

The absolute best song and best band of all times. Straight up Boogie Woogie
I could never get this song loud enough. It makes you want to tromp the accelerator and fly!
So yes, 70’s RULE!

About the only band I really enjoyed that I was never able to see in person was Pink Floyd...so many great songs no way I could start, but Watch Out With That Ax was one of the first that drew me in. Also Groovin' in a Cave With a Pict just about blew my mind back when minds got blown by that kind of music.

Despite being 62 I never stopped liking new bands of all different types, with the exception of 95% of all rap. iTunes was a wonderful thing, I got to replace my old 8 tracks like Boston and Sweet plus add groups that would have never made it to a record store. Waiting for the next Imagine Dragons to come out now.

After my wife and I got married (1971), we went to a few concerts since the music bug had not yet worn out. Moody Blues was her favorite. I took my youngest son to a concert when he was in high school (Crosby, Stills & Nash, after splitting with Young). His comment was,"Why do all the guys sitting in front of us have bald spots?"
Just a few years ago he took me to Kansas City to see The Who. They were just as good then as they were in the late 60s when I last saw them.
An old friend reminded me last week if I remembered when I used to sit in with The Shadows of Knight when they played the old favorite, "Gloria". Now that was a long time ago and far, far away. I lost my old tambourine maybe 50 years ago. Aaaah the memories! Well, I sort of remember parts of the 60s.

I was never much for going to big venue concerts, hate crowds and standing in line etc. But I did go to see B.B. King at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis back in the 70's, and the thrill is not gone ...

When I was in college this guy named Billy Joel was playing at a local bar for $5. Unfortunately I was almost dead broke and passed. A few months later he exploded on the recording scene. The things that we regret.
