It is still February right? Well it is 64° outside. The bees are swarming my bird feeders, causing the birds much distress. I have never seen active bees in this area in Feb. before.

If the temperature gets above 50 the bees will emerge for "cleansing flights" and to get a snack. You could put out some sugar water in a dish with a rock in it to keep them away from the bird feeders. Please use a rock or they can slip into the liquid and drown.

brownrexx, As soon as I saw all the bees I did put out a plate with sugar water on it. I did make sure to put some little pebbles on the plate so they would have something to stand on.

Bees already? With the below freezing nights they won't show up here for quite a while yet. Good idea to feed them early in the spring.

Good idea to feed them early in the spring. They will come out during the day even if the nights are below freezing. They go back inside to their hives before nightfall and a bee hive is at a constant warmer temperature due to the body heat of all of the bees. They don't exactly hibernate, they just wait for warm temperatures to arrive. When they come out early like this, they can't find anything to eat because there are no flowers so they check out things like bird feeders and one year they were coming to my compost pile. Poor bees are hungry!
