My last visit to the tomato/pepper garden was last night and every variety, every tomato and pepper plant showed signs of healthy growth. I had to replace one variety about two weeks ago and since then even a straggly pepper has recovered. That is 25 (I know, I was going to cut back but just kept adding interesting varieties) tomato plants and around 15 sweet peppers. A pepper or two die I can survive. There are even another dozen pepper plants waiting in the wings along with now 24 tomato plants.
I give away all my extras and local Mennonite family who we have been friends with for several years have begun to grow heirlooms/OPs. They will be visiting today or tomorrow to pick up the plants I grew especially for them. A son in West Des Moines, Iowa has indicated he would like another three or four plants (they got the bug) and a guy who went through Master Gardener classes with my wife and I stopped me on the street and asked if there were any tomatoes and peppers left. He will be here this afternoon.
I would guess that after tomorrow all the spares will be gone for the year. I love giving away what I cannot fit into the garden. It will work out. Any plants left over now will be put in the local Post Office for anyone who wants them to take home. It is getting pretty late in the season, but there is still time.

Saturday I got rid of the last of my "extras" to a family I know. I had already given them the extra tomatoes and eggplants, and some peppers, plus this was two peppers I started for the son, that just started slower than the others, and needed more time. Then I had 4 extra bitter melon (she's Indian, and wants to grow them), and the last 6 plants are...drumroll...okra! She asked me if I had any extra okra, back when she was putting in the tomatoes, and I had planted some extra ones, since some hadn't germinated, and they were coming up then. All of my spaces are filled now, and I had 6 extra plants, which have a home now.
