How do you stake/cage your tomatos? What do you tie them with? Or perhaps do you do a weave?
I stake mine, and tie them with panty hose.

Cage. This year we are adding Black Cherry and Sun Sugar. I guess we'll have to do something different with those.

Stake, leave two stems and prune the suckers. I tie them with a special gardening band made out of recycled plastic called Artificial raffia. It holds the plants well and after the season, breaks down during the winter.

Cage, and this year I'm gonna push my luck, I planted "2" tomato plants per cage.

I've used cages for the last 30 years.

I use cages on most of my tomatoes supplemented with stakes. I cut/tear strips of cloth for tying my plants and spend lots of time doing it.

I stake mine. I've tried the cages but some of my plants are way too tall for cages! I pound in 6' tall metal fence posts and string wire tightly between them. The tall tomatoes usually grow to the top.

Cages. We built some this year that are taller than we've had before.

I made cages from concrete reinforcing wire, it worked really well. They survived some nasty winds last year, and even with them sunk in the ground are still 5'6" tall.

I found some at Rural King on sale. 54" for $1.49 I bought 8. Ace Hardware had smaller ones for $3.23.

I use the little crappy cages for determinates and twine them together. For normal tomatoes I bought well over 100 cages from a gardener getting out of the biz for $1.50 each. They are the concrete wire kind about 4 feet tall. I am putting one on top for the tall tomatoes as well. I was really lucky to find this guy selling these.

I use cages with a little extra help from old pantyhose for the really unruly plants.

I make cages like Littleminnie has but then I usually get concrete wire for free. Contractors often throw away the left over ends of concrete wire rolls and I rescue them from dumpsters at construction sites. The same with rebar.

Hubs used to work in a steel fabricating plant so I have lots of rebar for temporary fence posts or tomato stakes. I used them a lot when I raised turkeys as posts for a roll of welded wire out on pasture. My leaf mold pile is caged by old rebar panels from when he worked in a precast concrete plant. Since hubs began driving a rig, the only perk I can remember him bringing home was a case of marshmallows. Fun around a bonfire but not really helpful around the house or garden.

My husband made me tomato cages out of some wire fencing we bought ..however.. we don't have enough cages and they are not nearly tall enough.. they are only 4' and ALL my tomatoes grow to at LEAST 6' and when the tomatoes start growing the branches get heavy..so I use bamboo to help but that is only good for the main stem..and my tomatoes grow crazy.. it looks like a jungle by mid Aug.. I am even to scared to go into the garden.. LOL.. and they keep growing.. I did learn this year NOT to use baggie ties to hold the tomatoes to the bamboo.. twine all the way.. one plant I made a cage between the cages with bamboo running form one cage to the other and that worked out pretty good.. tomatoes were easier to get than in the other cages..
