had a 1950 chevy truck with WWII military 4x4 running gear under it, used it for some time as a truck, but eventually i took the body off (mounts were rusted out and it was shifting) put a winch on back, roll bars, and it made a nice log skidder. Until I broke the pinion pulling too hard.
that old 61 ford truck that was junk yard bound, became the main part of a fork lift to move logs and lumber around, the engine from that old subaru I took to the scrap yard went on it to drive it.
That old buick with it's leaking wheel seals got stripped down, cut in half, and the front end attached to my john deer tractor. (the rest of it went to the scrap yard) After I got tired of the gas guzzler, I redone it again and put a nother subaru engine on the john deer.

I have some of those kind of ornaments as well, but when I decide I don't need any more parts from one, to the scrap yard it goes. Since the last post I took the V6 engine out of a ford minivan that a friend wrecked, (not a serious wreck but enough to make the old van not worth fixing) and installed it in a case 450 track loader to replace the original diesel that was junk. It's working fine, last few weeks I have been making roads and clearing some land with it.
Since I'm tired of wasting money on fuel. Starting on a new project of turning a bunch of junk into a wood fired steam powered tractor. Doing some foundry and machining to make parts that are not available, and using a bunch of parts from various old vehicles. I have to order a few things new, but not very many, just ordered a sprocket and some babbitt for a main bearing. I actually started the project maybe 3 years ago by starting on a watertube steam boiler, but got distracted before it was done.
