You should see my skin in summer! I get rashes and have to go on steroids and I am full of bug bites too- oh and sunburn flakes. I think the horrible rash/cuts on my right arm may be from zucs. It looks like I cut myself (you know like weird kids do) but it came on right after looking for squash bug eggs on my zucs one day. Everyone gasps and wants to know what i did to my arm. I tell them I am starting to think it is squash plants. It itches now that it is healing. I have to use lots of creams to prevent scarring. I have so many scars and I used to have nice skin. sigh ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/3247375/images/gxwVBCPs6zrGljkbkcV2.png)

Some people get severe contact dermatitis from handling, and cutting, zucchini. I have rheumatoid arthritis which is triggered by foods containing a chemical called solanine/solinacae. I have been avoiding zucchini for many years because I suspected it triggered my arthritis, but I could find no written material saying that zucchini has solanine. This year I decided to grow zucchini. That was a big mistake. Zucchini definitely does affect me as though it contains solanine. It has caused me two months of misery and dysfunction. The rest of the zucchini harvest is being fed to the wild rabbits and my dogs!

Thank you! Luckily I am not allergic from eating it but sounds like I will need to cover my arms and legs for picking. The rash is bad today and last night I was so itchy on my legs and wrists I had to put an ice pack on them to calm it. I am very glad to finally know it is zucs.

If you sponge affected areas of your body with 50/50 white vinegar and water it should prevent the rash when the plants have touched you, and it should also heal the rash. Let the vinegar solution air dry on your skin.

I also have allergies to many plants, I often have other people pick the food, I am allergic to vinegar, but salt water helps my skin
