Ok same magazine they had a storm window and bales of straw .. they put the bales of straw around a plant and set the window on top of it.. I forget what you call them tho.. The magazine is out in the car...It's cold and I am not going out there

Probably a Cloche, occasionaly (and unflatteringly) a polish bucket.
No matter what the name a temporary cold frame erected to suit the tenant.

Yes cold frame!! Thats the word I was looking for.. I thought it was a great idea!! Because you can use the straw for you garden after .. and of course the window is reusable ..... I live on 22 acres and I can hide the unflaterin look of it behind my barn... Any hoo just thought I'd put it out there

LOL I stopped using cloche in New engand when I moved away from a sheltered south facing garden. They just coudln't cut the mustard. I was stuck with awaiting spring weather. :-( Cold frames OTOH I love, build when ever I have to, and lust after. If you've not had one and grow your own tomatoes/peppers you'll be hooked. Psst! and a search with key words "Hot Bed" will getcha in even more trouble... <G>
