It is just a balmy 33º here now, and I realized that the cilantro I had planted in my Earthbox, about 4 weeks ago, would probably die very soon. So I went out and pulled up 4 of the plants (the soil was beginning to freeze on top), shook the soil off, and soaked it in some of the water I use in my cloner, just to rinse all of the soil off, and maybe help the roots some. Then, I put them all in my hydroponics system, 3 in the new one, one in the old, to see if the different nutrients would matter, if they live at all! I'll keep you updated.

Never tried transplanting cilantro. I will be interested to see how they do.
About 60F now and sunny - good garlic-planting weather.

Today, we were stuck in the low 30s. The ground is still bare, tho' we had a few flurries flying. I got out in the late afternoon for two one-mile walks. Around dark, I started placing 30 bags of leaves around the foundation of my house. I had raked/bagged them in the country this fall. Next year they'll end up in the garden soil. Before midnight, it's just under 28F and we're expecting some snow showers. The cold temps that The Breadbasket has been experiencing are in our forecast.

This morning we have 1.5 inches of snow with 10 degrees and clear skies. Booked flight to Florida for Feb 2-10.

We now have 3/4" of snow and it's just above freezing at noon. Went out and fed the birds and swept off the cars. The air is quite calm, so it doesn't feel too cold. I think the snow is here to stay.

Light snow covering the garden. Won't amount to much but is pretty as we don't get a lot of snow around here. Some folks have been getting some big amounts of snow around the country.

It was a balmy 33 when I dropped the kids off at school this morning. We may or may not reach 50 today.
Tonight will be a hard freeze in Northwest Florida all the way to the beaches - NWS is forecasting lows of 25-30 with a few hours below freezing on the beach. Lows 19-23 for inland areas, with 10-12 hours below freezing.
This would not raise any eyebrows in January, or even the second half of December. But this is mid-November, and we might be setting some record lows tonight.

Record cold temps last night (20° and below in many places last night), but back up to 68° by next Monday! Weird weather.

26 last night. I haven't seen where that is an official record here, but definitely there were records broken in the area. Funny thing is, right up until mid-afternoon they were saying 37 for tonight's low. I just happened to check the temperature before going to sleep. Glad I did: it's already dropped to 32 now at midnight! So I get to go out in the yard with a flashlight and turn the pool pump on before I go to bed.

Mid-40's today, and not much wind, so it wasn't bad out there. I was even getting hot, and had to remove the cap, then the gloves, one by one!

It's warming up here, too. After last night's low of 29, it made it into the 60s this afternoon.

It was a very cold one this morning. 9O miles south of here it was 3F. I suspect we were around 9 or 1OF. We got up to 27F today and it's currently 25F.
Talked to my old drummer in Florida tonight and he had a low of 35F lately. I just heard today that areas around Buffalo, New York, had up to 88 inches of snow in the storms this week! Wow!!!
We're under a Freezing Rain Advisory until noon. The temps should get up to 4O degrees on Saturday and the little bit of snow we have will melt in the days ahead.

Briefly, we got up to 51 degrees on Sunday. I dug out the shorts and got outside for 5km of walking. The ornamental Kale is still looking good. Had a few spits of rain in the daytime. Tonight we're getting some good rains. It sure beats snow for now! At midnight, it's around 47F. I'm not complaining, heheh.

Two nights ago we had record cold temps in many places, but tomorrow it is supposed to reach 74º here! Got a lot done today, as I figured I had to, with all that rain coming tonight.

Yup, been a wild and wacky week here too! Highs ranging from 34 to 73 Lows ranging from 16 to 54 Yesterday was the 73 degree day, but wind gusts up to 41mph so I did not get much done in the garden. This morning was supposed to be sunny, so of course we have drizzle and light rain! And they change the T-day forecast seemingly hourly. So, I guess I'll be out smoking the brined turkey in something like dry, wet, snowy, sunny, cloudy, windy, calm, warm, or cold weather!

Yesterday, we started out warm so I was back in shorts the first part of the day. Saw 51F before 11a. In the afternoon, the wind starting blowing like crazy and the lights flickered once. Had power outages to the south. Put on long pants and got out for another walk. Ended up getting rained on at 37F before 5.30pm. There was a wind chill.
Today, we got into the mid-30s with a strong wind. I got out for 5km of walking besides outdoor work at Mom's. I trimmed on volunteer raspberries in the lawn, junipers and the hedge in front of her bay window. There's more to go. Fired up the snowblower in preparation of snow. Picked up limbs that blew down in yesterday's blustery winds.
Before 7pm tonight, there was a little freezing rain along with some snowflakes mixed in. At 11pm, we're at 30 degrees and the ground is bare again.

After 4 days of rain and gloom, it's sunny and 61F. It's going to be pretty cool the next couple of nights, with a possible frost tomorrow night. But overall we are expecting mild, sunny weather for the next week.

Tonight at 11.30pm, it's 44 degrees out. That's warmer than it's been all day. I got out for a couple miles of walking late in the day/early evening. Gotta keep moving...

Today we got up to 48F with cloudy skies. I got out for 5km of walking. It felt great not to have the cold wind in my face.
For the second night in-a-row, we're warm. After midnight, it's still 40F with a Dense Fog Advisory. I can hear a tractor out working the soil across the blacktop. A week ago, they were near the end of picking the corn and were out late at night.

Sunday was 60 degrees F and overcast. Overnight .60 inches of rain and low of 45. Today rain clears and a north wind blows in cooler temps. Still no snow in the forecast. Last night would have brought in at least 6 inches of snow if it was colder. I love a brown Christmas.

Never tried transplanting cilantro. I will be interested to see how they do. It's one month after I transplanted those things, and only one lived, but it is going crazy! Today the temp got up to 48º, 4º above average, and it was sunny, and no wind - a nice day to be outside!
