Don't be shocked , you knew this question was coming! Do you grow them, if so which ones?

Daylillies are like Zuccini in New England, If you don't lock your car, somebody fills up the back seat with plants they wanna give away.
They seed by bulbil so all you have to do to limit your patch is to mow down the edges of the patch...
To my suprise the flower does make an interesting mildly onion-ey addition to foods. certainly suitable for a fried flower like squash blossoms. The in-ground bulb 'might' be edible. I'd have to be all out of garlic or shallot for a while before I tried em.

A few years ago I posted a picture on another forum of a odd looking pod I had found in a parking lot,got many suggestion's as to what it was,the right answer came from the owner of this forum,it was a daylily pod, unfortunately it didn't grow for me but it sparked my interest in daylilys, now I have a small bed of different sorts, and they just love to be heavily manured.

My wife has around a hundred different varieties, mostly from Wild's of Missouri. In the spring and early summer her flower beds are a sight to behold. Can't eat them, but they look nice.

I would mention that daylilies are universally toxic to cats and may kill small dogs. I am not so sure I would be eating them.

Ciao all-
Duane's helped me cull all but 2 of the daylily plants in our garden because our cats are vegetarian munchers. We're still culling all of the lily of the valley out except for what's in with the mints. The cats don't bother that area.

I have one Stella D'Oro that needs to be divided and moved into a sunnier spot. Sounds like I need to dig up the yard more.
