German food does sound good. I'm kind of on an Asian food kick right now. All the holiday food is so heavy, I start to crave fresh fruits, veggies, and lighter meals with fish after New Year's.
Last night I made Tom Yum Soup with prawns. There's enough to have tonight as well, which is great because I've been baking all day and I'm getting tired.

We ordered Thai from a restaurant a town over. Collectively, as a family, we were not impressed but this was our first venture into eating Thai. I think next time we try Thai it might be better to sit down in a Thai restaurant and talk to the owner or an experienced waiter and discuss the menu and what we should try. I had a shrimp curry which was mildly hot--no problem there, but there are some flavors in it I like yet don't recognize. I'd like to know what I've eaten ;-)

Clay baked chicken in a garlic, herb and sundried tomato rub, with roast potatoes and steamed yellow beans. DH didn't think he was going to like it with the herbal treatment, but judging from the tiny piece of breastmeat that's left from a whole chicken I'd say it was a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
Trudi, I'd love to try Thai. Hope you find a good restaurant to pursue it further.

I didn't ask for anything in swap from the kids I gave seed to at CFI. One of the other fifty-somethings just had'ta give me something, I left with all the 'floor model' squash she'd cut open for display. They are roasting in the oven as I type.

Weisswurst, Egg Noodles and Sauerkraut. OK I'm game, whats a Weiss? I got the hot dog part. Spaetzle sounds good. Krauts ok if it didn't come out of a can.

Weiss means white ? In this case, white meat (veal & pork). I'm not a fan of sausage, but I do like this one. And yeah, the Sauerkraut came out of a can. I tried once to make it. Ended up with a slimy moldy mess. Never again. There is sometimes a vendor at the farmers market with small bags of homemade kraut, but last time I saw him, he was sold out for the season. Mmmmmm, Mixed squash bake....Enjoy!

Blue, at least new england stupormarkets offer kraut in a bag. It almost makes up for what they call tomatoes...

Last night was thawed and re-heated smoked pork ribs, Corona, and a side of pickled pepperoncini. Tonight is pad thai and kimchi.
Wendy, I've found crispy sauerkraut in the refrigerator section up here in bags. Better than the canned stuff.

The jar is the size of a large pickle jar. Take me forever to eat that much kraut. I got the cans on sale for 3/$1.50 so I opted for cheap and quick. It wasn't bad, but it was a respectable brand name. I don't know if kraut in a kan imported from China would have been quite the same quality.

I made a Thai curry with chicken, okra, onion (a vegetable I put in almost every Thai curry, in large chunks), yams (very good, with the sweetness, plus the thickening it provides), bell peppers, and a red curry paste. Plus some pickled pineapple on the side, plus, of course, jasmine rice. I used the last of my curry paste last night, so I had to make 3 varieties today - a green, and two reds. I NEVER run out, so I almost had an anxiety attack, until I got the first one made. Dave

I was all set to cut collards, and wifee said she wanted a salad instead. So.. couple kinds of lettuce, radicchio and some peas. Oohhh actually tuna melts sound good.

Chicken breast cut into strips and sauteed with onions and parsley, piled into a club roll and topped with cheese, avacado and mayo. Sloppy, yummy goodness.
