We had 37.5F Monday morning with a high in the 60's. Quite pleasant weather. I've been sure to sit out and enjoy my garden view.
Tonight, it's 46 out. I'm looking forward to 76F on Thursday!

We have had wet snow & rain and high wind for 2 days now; but they say that warm weather will return. Suits me fine; from the 4 months of hot weather the soil has gotten hard as rock in some places and now it'll soften up and I can continue my work!!

This morning (Monday the 8th) we had our 1st real frost of the season at my house. I expect we were in the high 20's. One location in the Lower Peninsula was 17F! In front of my house I had a few tomatoes covered and they got it. Not sure about the fruit on them. Loads of peppers I had covered (a sheet and a blanket on top) made it. Plants up on my porch look OK. The covered tomatoes near my back step made it, even if singed a little where the sheet touched them. The squash in the back yard made it with a double layer of covers. Oddly enough, short, orphan tomato plants by the cool compost pile behind my garage survived uncovered! Go figure. We ended up in the 50's with brisk wind all day. Tonight, it's 44F out. Not bad.

We started Saturday off with 28.5F. Had some light rain in the morning. Temps were in the lo 40's most of the day with increasing rain.
Tonight at 1.17a, it's 50F; warmest it's been all day. Since it's been so dry for months, we get a little rain and we're under a Flood Watch! Well, we're expecting more on Sunday...

Mid 50's tomorrow. Chance of rain in the afternoon. Already had over 2 inches the last few days. Guess if I want to get anything done outdoors tomorrow I'll have to do it in the morning.

Grabbed a big mug of caffeine and headed outside before daylight. Fall is slowly seeping down south in a gentle hush. Daylight was breaking. I could almost hear the earth sigh with relief: "made it through another horrid summer". I grabbed the hose and started watering; everything was bone-dry. Then I got soaked! Got a nice thunderstorm at dawn. What a difference this fall has been. We are beginning to turn the corner back to "normal".

71F today and sunny! Since it was 62F in my house, I put the fan in the window to bring in some heat.
Got out and pushed the mower at Mom's for a long time.
After dark, I went out for a walk and got caught in the rain 1/2 mile from home. It was 66F out with one lightning flash. That rain was refreshing!

Had a few days with on-an-off rain for a total of an inch. The Drought Monitor has downgraded us again; we're back to Normal. About time! Sure could have used rain this summer.
Saw 57F today and tonight will be in the 30's.

Thursday, we topped out at 78F and I heated the house with the fan in the window again. The wind was very strong. It reminded me of the winds we get at the Equinoxes.
I got back from a mile walk after 7.30p and the temp was still 71F. Got out a pickle pail and acoustic guitar and played bottleneck in the dark. This will be the last time for awhile.
At 12.30a, it was still 67F. The wind kicked up at 1.10a ahead of the approaching Cold Front and the temp is now 58F at 2a. Hope we get some more rain.
Friday night we start frosting again, so my season will be mostly over. Time to let go...

To all our friends on the east coast : Be Safe. Be Well.
Meanwhile, down in Texas.....
Brrrr - it's getting cold out there. Don't know what the actual temp is, but I'd guess in the low 50's. Wind is whistling around the house. Things are going bump in the night. Gonna be scared to take a look at the damages tomorrow.
I used to hate winter, but now I accept that it's a part of the cycle of life for the planet. Sad, because it's the beginning of the end for the glorious summer crops. Happy because I can now begin my winter garden in earnest.

We're under a High Wind Advisory because of Hurricane Sandy. The winds have started and the house is creaking every now-and-then. Out in Michigan's Thumb, they have a High Wind Warning with a possibility of 65 mph(105 km) gusts near the shoreline. Out on Lake Huron, there's a Storm Warning. The largest waves expected may be 25'(7.62m) with a potential maximum of 36'(10.97m)! Those seas are like the Atlantic tonight. After midnight, we're at 39F(3.9C) with the wind howling. I can see the full moon through the clouds and Sandy's precipitation hasn't reached here yet. Parts of Michigan have already gotten a little of her rain. We're slated to get a little snow and sleet mixed in with the rain when it gets here. Be safe everyone!

Rain, rain, rain, rain, er snow.
For the last almost 72 hours its been barely a breeze and a steady rain. We did get some gusts last noct. But the power never went out here in SE-OH.
I'm thinking if you had waterfront property on MA NY CT DE MD VA last noct was not your funnest day ever.
Likewise if you work on the NYC subway system, by this morning you are likely to be pretty sure life sucks.

Tuesday, we had a windy, rainy day. Had a little sleet on the windshield wipers even tho' the temps stayed above freezing. During the Storm Warning out on Lake Huron, a buoy measured a wave of 23'(7m). Yikes! Wednesday, we received more rain with a high of 45F(7C). At least, it's not snow.

It is chilly outside at a "freezing" 57'. Dry as a bone, hoping that the 30% chance of rain on Tuesday will turn into 100% chance!
