I had another one of those near perfect days today, 77° and low humidity, and have another forecast for tomorrow, but the heat is headed, with the humidity. Can't have everything! The dry weather is always best the 3 weeks or so before the garlic is harvested, so hopefully, the rain will hold off a while.

I am jealous. We are in the low to mid-90s for actual highs, and it's pretty humid (but not as bad as it will be soon), and working outside means getting drenched with sweat in no time. But hey, it's Florida. That's normal.

Cool and sunny today, but yesterday the high was 60º, with a cold wind blowing all day. It felt like October. It's supposed to warm up to 90º+ for the weekend, so back to July we go.

I went out this morning, thinking of mowing the lawn, on this last "nice" day, but it wasn't really long enough to mow, since it hasn't been raining much - just that 1.22" several days ago, that just turned it a little green again, but not much growth (I don't complain about that in the lawn!). They are only calling for 76° for a high now, so I might still mow it - not much will be coming off, though.
Update - I did mow the lawn today, after it got cloudy, and I don't think it got over 75° all day. I tried finishing everything I could, since the heat is going up quickly. I will be back inside quickly and early, in this hot spell ahead.

Summer is finally here. After enough rain over the past month to officially get us out of the drought, now we are forecast for high temperatures and no rain. My gardens got a pretty good bump start with moisture, now hopefully they will survive the hot dry spell.

We just missed the severe storms that went through last night, went south and east of us. Heard the thunder, but didn't get a drop of rain. Our rain level has come up a lot since spring, but we were in such a drought that not sure we are yet back to normal. I will have to water this morning, I have a 2nd planting of corn and first planting of beans trying to come up through dried hardpan mud, was hoping for the rain to soften it to avoid getting out the hose. Yesterday we were in the low 80's, but now will be in more seasonable 70's for the next week.

It's getting warmer out there earlier today. Yesterday wasn't as bad as predicted, and may have gotten to 80°, but it was already up to 78° before 10am today, and 89° is the forecast high, though still relatively low humidity. But overnight was already getting a little higher in humidity, and tonight will be worse, with higher humidity to go with the 93° heat, or so they say. And some rain coming late in the day, but I'll believe that when it happens.

All of that rain we were promised several days ago has failed to materialize - it's been hot, humid, and dry. Actual temperatures are in the low to mid 90s, and heat indexes are now over 100 (next month they'll be 110+). Except for a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon (crossing my fingers!) there's no significant chance of rain for over a week.
That means lots of watering in my sandy soil.

The temp dropped from 92° to 65° in a short period, and I'm having a sunshower now, though there was little rain - only .01" so far, and radar shows little more to come. Very heavy wind, but it has already gotten lighter. Hopefully, no damage.

Looking at the radar, it appears that we may actually get a thunderstorm here at my house in a little while - here's hoping! It also looks as though it's raining at the property already.

I have been enjoying beautiful weather and getting to see some of my perennial flowers bloom for one last time before we head to Florida on July 7.
I guess that the weather predicted to be in the 90's here in PA will prepare me for Florida!

We ended up getting 2.9" of rain here at home on Sunday. Yay! Though the total rainfall was probably only 0.5"-1" at the property, though, because of the way the storms trained in - the heavier storms went just west of the property. But every drop was welcome in both places.

We're three days into an "extended heatwave", with no rain in sight. 90+ and high humidity. Makes me sweat just thinking about it, lol.

Intensely hot and humid. Can't be outside for more than 10 minutes, all 10 spent sweating profusely. It's like being in Florida in July, but it doesn't feel like a vacation.

It was hot out there today, but even at 97°, and the higher humidity, it was breezy, so bearable. I went out mainly to check my drip irrigation lines, making sure none had clogged, and a couple of the rows I increased the time some, due to this heat every day. Now it's down to 95°, but a heat index of 103°, so it was a little higher when I was out there, but that was when almost the entire garden was in the shade, before it starts getting sunny again, before getting in the shade again, much later. Possible thunderstorms later, but I'm not turning off my watering timers, since it hasn't been showing up here.

Mid-nineties with plenty of humidity. Last two days the same and several more to come. Monday to feel like 110 F. Umpired yesterday two games at 90+. Last game of the season tomorrow at noon (feels like 100). One or two games depending on the outcome of the first. Watering will begin soon. So far wet enough but no rain for several days and none in the forecast.

I was out there again today, in the 97° heat, plus really bad humidity - 103-105° feels like, though it really didn't feel like that, because of the 30-35 mph wind! I wouldn't have been out there digging up that garlic, if it weren't for the wind!
Eventually, it did rain, at one time fairly hard, and last I looked it was up to .36", but I haven't looked for a while! The temp dropped to 86°, with just .08", but an hour later down to 76°, with the .36" of rain, and that was 30 minutes ago. Radar shows more coming this evening, then again in early morning. And only 86° for a high tomorrow is the forecast, but they've been wrong before.

.45" was the total yesterday - something, though not that much. And today was MUCH better - 84° high, and very dry, with a dewpoint of under 50°. And the wind was even higher than yesterday - 22 mph sustained winds, with gusts to 40 mph. Supposed to be back to 90° tomorrow, but still dry, but then back to those higher temps and humidity for Wednesday, with the heat index back in the triple digits.

Right now 99F with humidity. All the rain north of us is creating a wall of water coming down the Missouri and we will have another 500 year flood only 5 years since the last one. Five years ago the highway out of town to the east was flooded for six months. Hopefully this will be an up and down flood.

Drove a couple hours away to go to the Columbus zoo. Massive downpour! Shocker I know. Soaked to the bone so grandson and I splashed in puddles. The rains seem to follow me!

I got .73" of rain overnight, and temperature dropped, though the humidity was still very high, but it's supposed to drop, later on. It's still supposed to get up to 88°, but tonight it is supposed to be much cooler overnight, and much cooler tomorrow, with the humidity still low.

Lucy forgot to yank the football today - rain actually fell! We got a very nice rain, about 2" here and probably 1.5"+ at the property. It started raining in the wee hours of the morning, and rained off and on until early afternoon. Which is great, because that off and on rain soaks in a lot better than if we had a quick torrential downpour.
The rain has also kept the temperatures down today; the high was only 85 and it stayed below 80 until about lunchtime due to the dense cloud cover.

Heads up for the folks on the Gulf Coast:
Looks like next weekend Beryl may be hitting somewhere in the Gulf as a hurricane, though it's far too early to know where she'll go or how strong she'll be. Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows she's out there. It might be good to go ahead and stock your hurricane kits if you haven't already done so. If you end up being "in the cone" your stores will be crazy with panic buyers by the middle or end of next week.

All of the spaghetti models have it moving for the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico so far. But it's early in the season for a major hurricane. I had better keep my proof of insurance handy this year.

Hotter here than yesterday, but only a few degrees (only 87°); however, the dewpoint was up to 73°, after the mid-fifties yesterday, so it was much more noticeable. I didn't do as much out there today, and took a shower shortly after cooling off inside! Tomorrow, hotter, and scattered TS through the area, and throughout the day. I'll see if any show up hear.
Started raining recently, and it looks like this first line is coming through this area, with some thunder with it. I was wondering if it would bring anything with it.

Got .66" of rain overnight, with more to come later, and I'm hearing more thunder now, and though it doesn't seem close, there are popups on the radar, until a heavy line comes through, with warnings of "intense" TSs. Now I'm seeing lightning, and it's getting MUCH louder, so something must be here! At any rate, I probably won't be out there handling the plants today!
UD - a line came through, starting about 9:30 am, and brought the total up to 1.18" by noon. I went out during the lull, to weight some things down, as the worst is forecast for later in the afternoon, though these popups can show up anytime.

Now that third line of storms is coming through, the worst of the day, they are forecasting. It had stopped at 1.18", and actually got a little sunny in the afternoon, but the temperature really didn't rise to 90°, at least in my area - only around 85°. But already the rain is up to 1.45", and this area is in the middle of a wide yellow/orange/red strip in the raday, with another one of those lines predicted for later. And still only 80°, but the meteorologist on the local station was talking about how this was the highest dewpoint level he had ever seen in this area, in his 20 years of reporting - 78°. That was at the noontime, for that news - may have gotten higher now! Now my total is up to 1.80", in the time I typed this. Rain is down to a drizzle now, at 8 pm, and the total is up to 2.60. I'm still hearing thunder, however. Temperature is down to 76° At the end, I got a small sunshower, of sorts, and it took the total up to 2.75". The sky actually got some blue in it, then got real orange, at the end of it - the storm must have thought it was in Florida, instead of Jersey!
