Snow to the north and dangerous t-storms to the south. Maybe we will get a little more rain to break the two year drought.

amazing and dangerous temp gradient It's scary - I've been tracking that system all this week. Just my luck - I have no option but to drive through the front as it desends into Texas today. On my way in just a few hours - gonna be a long drive.

At KC's post we were in the 65 degree mark with 40's just to the north and west of us. A friend was trying to drive home from Grand Island, Ne and got stopped by icy road conditions. I one hour we went from near 70 to right now 47. Stay away snow!

at about 7pm its 72F and muggy. No rain. but check this radar out. I've never seen a line of snow like that in Ks and Oklahoma. I have experienced "thundersnow" (2 times this year already) but wonder if there has ever been a "Snownado"?

Tuesday, we had another rainy day that topped out around 42F. Looks like another 1 1/2" and there's water lying on some fields and lawns. My house's crawlspace was loaded and I tossed the sump pump in the hole, both early and late. Heard some thunder in the daytime and I like that. Got out for a walk after 8p and got rained on again. Just some drizzle at 37F. Tonight, there is a Flood Warning for the Rifle River in my county. That's the one made famous by the Cussing Canoeist back in '99 for violating an archaic 1897 law against swearing. Mom was in the Jury Pool but got excused. Not quite Deliverance... We're staying in a rain pattern until Thursday night when it turns to snow and freezing rain. A chance of snow Friday and Friday night with below average temperatures.

I have experienced "thundersnow" (2 times this year already) but wonder if there has ever been a "Snownado"? I'm not sure about a "Snownado." I'll have to ask my brother to see if he ever heard of one. A little while ago tonight, I see Lehigh, Kansas had a Severe Thunderstorm Watch at the same time they were under a Winter Weather Advisory. Strange days, indeed.

Another .63 inch of rain; no snow here, just wet and soaking in. We have had March winds, now April showers. Will we have the resulting May flowers?

Wind has been blowing good since yesterday. Clouds came in yesterday as well. Looking up at the sky the clouds looked like one of those time-lapse photography pics - without the time lapse. Supposed to be thunderstorms today, but they haven't developed just yet. Temp is supposed to drop down to mid-40's tonight. Then back to 70's/50's for a few days.

Logged in to check the forcast and was greeted with this statement. This is mild compared to what most of you all are encountering!
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHEAST GEORGIA AND THE WESTERN CAROLINAS.
THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE REGION THURSDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. SCATTERED STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP WELL AHEAD OF THE FRONT THURSDAY AFTERNOON...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND SOUTHEAST OF THE INTERSTATE 85 CORRIDOR. A MORE SOLID AND ORGANIZED LINE OF STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CLOSER TO THE IMMEDIATE FRONT WILL THEN LIKELY CROSS THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA THURSDAY NIGHT. THE PRIMARY THREAT WITH ANY OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. AN ISOLATED TORNADO WILL BE POSSIBLE AS WELL...MAINLY OVER NORTHEAST GEORGIA...UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA...AND THE SOUTHERN PIEDMONT OF NORTH CAROLINA THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY ALSO PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL. KEEP ABREAST OF THIS DEVELOPING SEVERE WEATHER SITUATION IN CASE ANY SEVERE WEATHER WATCHES ARE NEEDED THURSDAY AFTERNOON OR THURSDAY NIGHT.
STORM SPOTTERS MAY NEED TO BE ACTIVATED LATE THURSDAY.
Hope all of you in the path of this storm front stay safe and your gardens have nary a leaf turned!

Thanks Strat. I passed through storm - and it wasn't too bad. Strong winds & rain. Dang it's cold up here though. In the 30's in April!

Last night .30 inch of cold rain, but no snow. OK, now we need some sun and warmth.

In the night, we had sleet and freezing rain. Sleet is embedded in the ice on the steps. Around 7.3Oa, the wind was just roaring and we lost power soon thereafter. It didn't get too cold in here, heheh.
In the afternoon, the temperature got up to 33F and intermittent rain storms blew through. The Rifle River was above Flood Stage and in town, Stink Crick was over its banks in a couple of low-lying areas. Don't worry, the sewage treatment plant is downstream.
In neighboring Pinconning, a school bus had a downed power line land on it after a power pole broke. The kids are alright.
Currently, raindrops are on the windows and it's back below freezing. Little icicles are hanging from the birdfeeders. My brother lives 28 miles to the West and he is getting sleet.
Parts of the Upper Peninsula are under a Winter Storm Warning with a chance to get up to 12-14" of new, heavy snow. Lucky them.
The weather we've been having reminds me of a combination of March Coming In Like A Lion and April Fools with the joke on us.

Wow Strat, that's scary. Glad the kids are safe on the bus.
The front finished coming through last night and this morning. Woke up middle of the night to wind, heavy rain and thunder. What actually woke me was the sound of hail. It didn't last long and it didn't sound big. No garden damage that I could see late today. I'm not sure how many inches of water, but everything is still very soggy tonight. Temps already warmed up to 70's today after 46F to start the day, wind is calm and most of the sky is clear enough to get a good view of the stars tonight.

Strat, glad to hear you all stayed warm! and the children were safe and sound. Sure don't miss sleet and ice.
It's after midnight and temps are in the mid 70's. The storms are expected anytime. I was hoping You'd keep them TDD! Tornado watches are popping up. Tstorm watches and warnings are popping up. Sounds like the house will be shaking all night long...

I had to go out for a quick drive before 7.30p, and we were getting freezing rain with sleet mixed in. Luckily, the roads weren't slippery yet. At my place, water was standing in the backyard when I went out to pump my crawlspace. The two huge maple trees were creaking and groaning in the wind as some ice-covered small pieces fell off. In town, and out on the highway, I saw some big limbs blown down.
At midnight, we're under a Winter Storm Warning because of the ice storm. Overnight, we're in for rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet. Over 3,000 people are without electricity in my county. The power already went off and came back on an hour ago. Glad I have a UPS battery backup for my computer.
Hey, TDD and Izit! Yeah, that was great about the kids being OK. Sounds like 40 of them were on the bus.
Tonight, I'll be sleeping with a flashlight near me. Hope the temps hurry and get back above freezing and melt that darn ice. I am getting tired of Winter and Spring can come any day now.

Scary about the power line on the bus! Stay warm, Strat.
Thunderstorms blew through here last night. About 2/3" of rain and 30 mph winds, so nothing like the rough weather the rest of you folks had. Rain is always welcome here in April (spring and fall are our dry seasons).
74F and sunny now at 1:00 p.m. The sun just came out a little while ago, so we may get a few degrees warmer yet.

Well, during our icestorm Thursday night, we lost power at 2.45a. The lights went out twice and came back on once. A good time to go to sleep. Sleet accumulated 2-3" in our area. I almost grabbed my snowshoes to go 'sleetshoeing' with my brother. We didn't have power all day Friday until 7.34p. It only got down to 55F in here, so it wasn't too bad. I worked on my tax return on paper since I couldn't use software. I'm still working on it. A couple pictures from today of piles of sleet/snow in town. I have no idea where the custom came from of piling the snow in the street and picking it up days later. How quaint. The brainiacs put the pile near enough to the intersection to make driving tricky. Oh, look. Someone's using a blinker! It's unusual around here. After all, tractors don't have turn signals, heheh. Another shot of the snow pile. It's a little taller than I am. There is a Consumers Power truck at the stoplight on its way to fix a power outage.

The brainiacs put the pile near enough to the intersection to make driving tricky. Glad to know you all 'weathered' the storm and it's after affects! Snow pile in the center of the street is a new one for me! But I love the photos of your town. When I get homesick for my little village, I just pull up your photos!

Piling up the snow in the street seems like a weird custom...and isn't it problematic when you get a heavy snowfall?
Forget the turn signals, I am just impressed that people stop for red lights where you live.

Hey. We've got 68F and the birds are really singing. Even have a window open. I'm holding off putting the screens on the storm door. Next chance for snow on Friday and Friday night. Here's the link for the U.S. Drought Monitor I use. It is updated every Thursday. Yeah, I'm a weather nerd.

one of the local weather guys said in the next few days we should get 2-3" of rain (followed by possible snow thursday
I know the farmers are anxious to plant corn (most of which is GMO) but they can wait. This should break the drought and charge the soil with moisture back to "normal".

Whew, we are getting the first taste of the heat to come today. 87F at 1:00 p.m. with 70% humidity. Not quite summer weather, but it's enough to stick your shirt to you, especially since it's mostly sunny and there's barely a breeze.
Supposed to cool off to 70ish days / 50ish nights this weekend. I plan to get out and enjoy that mild weather this weekend, because soon we'll be in the upper 80s every day.
