12:39am sitting listening to hail hitting my roof. Hoping the the 6mil plastic and shade cloth layer are enough for the plants outside

Finally about done with drought in Mizzery (time to start a new one?) This map really reflects from last week totals. Last night the yellow areas got considerable rains. What odd, and good, about this year is the lack of severe weather. I assume it's coming as the warm south air and cold north area patterns change.

Kansas is still not doing well. The one place I do grow in Ks now is in the clear though. It is along and near a bend in the Missouri river so it is easy to find on a map as it is part of the state boundary.

Our highs are good enough to plant out, but the nightime lows this weekend will be in the 30s again so Monday is the projected day. Our part of Nebraska is in the yellow section (abnormally dry) and the last couple of rains passed us by ... again. Better than last year.

We hit 83F again, today for the 2nd day in-a-row.
Yesterday, I was out for over two hours pushing the mower and carrying broken maple limbs from April's ice storm damage.
Today, I got out and raked the grass clippings and shredded leaves from yesterday mowing. Cut up the large maple limbs into smaller pieces and set out at the curb for the city to pick up.
The temperature was still warm when I went in the house and got a shower. When I went back out around 6.30p, the temp was down to 66F. Now before 9p, it's around 57F with a few sprinkles.
As we're due to get cold again for the next four days, I closed the foundation on the house. Maybe the furnace won't run. Slight chance of rain and snow for Saturday night and Sunday. Frost Monday morning...

From a morning low of 34.5F, we got over 60F today. Had some rainstorms blow through. About an hour ago, I saw some snowflakes dropping straight down mixed in with some rain drops.
It is currently sunny out and 40F. We're expecting a nighttime low of 32F. So much for the heating season being over.
There's a chance of snow showers Sunday morning, followed by scattered rain and snow showers. Only a high of 46F. The real news is we're under a Freeze Watch for Sunday night through Monday morning with a low of 28F forecast. I'm covering a couple of my experimental sunflowers tonight and tomorrow night. That will get me in practice for covering my plants in the late summer/fall...

Hot.
Neighbor was out spraying 2,4-D out of a hose end sprayer. The pressure was so high it was making rainbows. I had to cover my seedlings with plastic and then something to block the sun. It's hot in there but it still wont be as bad as the 2,4-D

Wow, it's gone straight from winter to summer for you guys! Take it easy in that heat and drink plenty of water.
I feel kind of bad saying that it's really nice here. Surprisingly, it's not been hot yet. The last couple of nights were actually pleasantly cool! We have had highs around 80 day and low 50s nights the last couple of days. After dipping back into the upper 50s again tonight it will warm a bit, but still be nice. They weather folks are projecting lows in the mid-upper 60s and highs in the low-mid 80s the rest of the week. Mostly sunny with little chance of rain.
I am enjoying it while I can - the sauna conditions will kick in and the tomatoes will stop setting fruit all too soon.

3pm (or so) on 5/14 look at PaulF's neck of the woods! That's pretty messed up when triple digits are seen there before here. Be safe in the heat.

We started the week out at 27.5F Monday morning. Hopefully, Michigan didn't lose much of the fruit crop like last year. I haven't heard any bad news...
By Thursday afternoon we got up to 83F. That didn't last long; from Lake Huron we got a lake breeze that dropped the temps into the hi-60's. After midnight, we're at 45F and looking at hi-30's for the low.
Yeah, I had noticed the heat build up this week out in Paul's area. Wow!
Spraying rainbows of 2,4-D! Glad you were there to cover your plants.

Strong thunderstorms with small to medium sized hail came through this afternoon. Snapped a few branches off four tomato plants. I do have replacements if they are too bad.

Had about 1/2" rain here in the last 24 hrs., but I still planted what peppers and eggplant I could. Considering some of that bad weather elsewhere, I consider myself lucky, just getting a little muddy.

I knew that the lovely mild weather we have been enjoying couldn't last. The nights are still pretty pleasant (low temperatures are in the upper 60s), but the days are getting hot and sticky. Highs in the upper 80s don't sound bad, but with strong sun, high humidity and still air - no breeze at all - I start dripping sweat pretty fast outdoors. (I really, truly am grateful for air conditioning. ) Kind of makes me anticipate thunderstorm season - when a storm is kicking up at least we get a breeze.

We have a lull in the weather right now. a nice squaw line formed just east of me a couple hours ago, but i only got a trace of rain. But the bigger line of storms is making its way this way with tornado watches posted, so we will see how we fare. Looks like another line behind that too, so the little ones should get watered but hope not battered tonight.

After 1a, we're still at 65F. Starting Monday, we're in for thunderstorms for a few days. Thursday a chance of showers and a high of only 61F.
I see there's a Tornado Warning out in Missouri, so be safe and keep an eye on the weather.
