The gross part is that pieces of the cadaver bone work their way out and escape for a few days. Please tell me you are full of the same stuff that hairymooseknuckles , is full of and this is a joke? Oh the tooth is connected to the jawbone The jawbone’s connected to the cadaver bone. This whole conversation totally creeps me out but I have to admit that made me LOL Not at all, I was warned by the dentist, gargle with warm salt water and spit were his instructions, and that is what happened. What is really gross is that all drinking water was once urine at one time, recycled an infinite number of times.

Checking in - I am doing better than I expected. Honestly although my pain level is higher than it was in the couple of days before the extraction, it's not bad. I am in less pain now than the cracked tooth and infection caused me before the antibiotics kicked in. Swelling is minimal, and I am trying to be good and follow the dentist's instructions carefully.
They had me high as a kite on nitrous to deal with my dental anxiety, so the procedure itself wasn't bad. The dentist used synthetic bone for the bone graft. Apparently this is the new thing. So, I don't have to worry about some dead person's bone being in my mouth. She said some pieces may work their way out while I heal and if so, not to worry about it.
Apparently 48 hours out is the peak of swelling and pain for most people, so if I am still doing well tomorrow I should be A-OK.
The thing is that I am hungry now and soup, yogurt, pudding, etc., are just not satisfying. I am having a hard time keeping my mind off a nice, juicy cheeseburger, ya know? Oh, well. That time will come.

...What is really gross is that all drinking water was once urine at one time, recycled an infinite number of times. I mean, if you really want to think of it that way, everything we eat is full recycled dead stuff, too. Dead plants and critters as well as animal waste all end up as plant fertilizer. Then we eat either the plants directly or we eat the critters that ate the plants. So all of our food and drinking water is nasty stuff that was purified via natural methods (and sometimes manmade methods as well).

Our chickens love to dine on worms and bugs and for a real treat they dig through the garbage in the compost pile. Eggs anyone?

That time will come. Something I ate a lot of, back when I was getting my implants done (and these were not fast, like a root canal!), was dal. Of course, I make a lot of that all the time, but what I did was make many non-Indian foods into dals, so they required very little chewing! Red lentils, or masoor dal, are found almost everywhere now, but if you have an Indian market nearby, moong dal is the other variety that will cook to a purée in about 20 minutes, and you can find a variety of those that has been split, but still has the hull attached, giving the fiber of the whole bean, but cooking in less than 20 min. And I made Italian, Chinese, and a number of other dals - just chopped everything up finely, making good "comfort food". About 1 c dal to 3 c water, for a fairly thick soup, 4 c water for a thinner version, with the other ingredients added as desired.

Laura_in_FL, brownrexx, With this sort of conversation I know that Halloween is just around the corner. I saw a lot of Halloween movie remakes coming. Janie Lee Curtiss says that Michael Meyers will be really truly cross her heart dead in Halloween the End.

I drive people crazy during the month of Rocktober singing the silver shamrock song.
I like the Friday the 13th movies better than the Halloween’s, but I’ll sit and watch either. My wife says NOPE!

Gore for the sake of gore is not my thing, and most horror movies are too predictable for me. I spend the movie yelling at the screen, "Don't go into the basement alone, dummy!" But occasionally I run into a horror movie that offers some real suspense and surprise. If I leave thinking, "I wasn't expecting that!" then I probably had a good time. I gravitate more to sci-fi monster horror than Friday the 13th/Halloween type movies. The original Alien was really cool when it first came out.
And sometimes I like lighter monster-movie fare...I grew up enjoying Godzilla movies although even as a kid I saw how campy the special effects were. Horror spoofs/comedies have their place, too. For example, Bubba Ho-Tep is too silly for me to enjoy while sober, but I had a few drinks in me when I watched it, and thought it was really hilarious.

Laura_in_FL , oh my gosh! I never heard of Bubba Ho-Tep, but just read a synopsis and it sounds campy hilarious! Will have to put it on my list.
I loved all the old '40's - '50's original monster movies, Dracula, Monster of the Black Lagoon, and The Mummy movies especially. The modern mummy movies were good too. But I don't watch scary slasher movies or anything with blood and guts flying. It's too close to the worst impulses of humanity for me, don't need to see it or think about it. Zombie movies are just silly boring, same plots, have never seen one through to the end. But sometimes I have to see stuff I'd rather not, if I know the story is good enough to override the violence. I was enthralled by the Game of Thrones series, but sometimes I'd have to close my eyes or wander away because of the graphic violence, I rarely paid attention to the actual war and fighting sequences because of the gore, which only added minutes to the episode without adding anything to the plot. Of course they managed to sneak in chopping and gouging anywhere else they could.

Laura_in_FL , september , anything with Vincent Price is a must-watch for me, even if the special effects are rather campy--or maybe because He's always sinister and quite terrifying, but in a benevolent way. An absolute class act in the world of horror movies.

I had an early appointment today, then I went to lidl, since this is the "end" of their week, and I didn't want to miss out on those Greek items.
There were some things out there in lidl today that surprised me - both higher, and lower prices. Like Aldi, cream cheese had skyrocketed - $1.99/8 oz, while it was 69¢ last year. Butter also way too high, yet most of the regular cheeses hadn't gone up, and a few were on sale. The main thing I went there for was the "Greek Festival", when they have a bunch of things really cheap, and today I got something I hadn't seen there before - some greek EVOO, and it was delicious, when I opened one. It was 3.99/500 ml, and in a white bottle, to keep the light out. Same price the "better" oil (that I usually use in salads, and other lightly cooked food) used to be at lidl or Aldi, but that has gone up at least $1. They also have those oily Greek olives - only 1.99/8 oz, while if you could find them elsewhere, they might be $8-10/lb. And that kalamata olive paste, down to 99¢/6.3 oz, and is even stronger than the stuff I've made. And elsewhere, the cheapest thing I found, unexpectedly, was the dried black beans for $1/lb - had to buy 10, but that was no problem for me! I was down to maybe 3 c of black beans, and the canned beans still aren't coming down.
As usual, you can find some things cheap, if you look around, and pass up those things that keep going up!

If you want the creepiest movie ever download one from the lat 1970's called Wolfen. There are some clips on Youtube. I remember reading the book first and that was even more chilling than the movie.

I ordered more seed last night, replacement kale, radish seed, 2 types of eggplant, 2 types of okra(4 to 5 foot spineless types), white scallop squash, yellow crookneck squash.
Charging up the car presently, when that is done I need to go to the parents. Got to weed the kale patch, carry Dad to the eye doc, carry mom dress shopping for the nephews upcoming wedding, maybe carry them to a funeral since at their age there are one to 2 a week.Probably won't be back on line before Saturday.

Some rain is on the way it looks like. Mowed the entire estate yesterday and today. What used to take four hours now takes at least 8, most of the time over three days except today I wanted to beat the rain. Now it is rest and do nothing for a couple of days. Still harvesting tomatoes like it is August

WOW How many acres do you have? In total it comes to two and a half acres. I mow just about 1 1/2. With a rider about one acre taking an hour and a half. Then comes the fun part. 280 feet by 60 feet of steep hillside with a push mower. another 100 by 60 on the other side of the house with that same push mower. and the last section, 200 by 50 we call the hollow, a 20% grade done by push mower but only three or four times per year...this will be the last time this year. All the steep hillsides wear me out so lots of rest times adds up to the time it takes for the mowing. The push mower is a commercial self-propelled mower that pulls me along or mowing would not get done. For an old fat guy this keeps me in shape a little. I am always happiest when I am done for a week or ten days.

OH what a beautiful yard and I see why it takes so long! OH! For the longest time I had no clue those fancy suckers even existed! The lady down the road would be using her push mower and just strutting out with her ponytail just swinging. Me on the other hand had a push mower that I swear was made out of cast iron >,< Was like pushing a dead pony around the yard hoping something got cut. Well one day I complemented her on being in such good shape. She laughed at me and showed me the whole self propelled thing!! Guess what I got the next day and yes I was about 58 at the time so hush you! Not very fancy in these parts lol

I had a mower a few years back that was advertised as self-propelled designed to "go at your own pace". Up a hill and on the flat it only went as fast as I could push it which was zero mph. The self propelled part only worked downhill where it wasn't needed.
It took some research to find a mower that could be put into gear and by holding the handlebar up to the permanent handle the mower would go. I go in first gear and there are three speeds if I want to get a workout.

Took Dad to the eye doctor . When the doctor didn't find new deterioration Dad dismissed himself. He promptly had eye pressure that night that still hasn't completely cleared up. Took Mom clothes shopping at Dillards, had to swear a binding oath not to repeat how much she spent. Hey I found her a $15 pair of pants! weeded and watered my poor pitiful kale half row. Washed their dog. When I started to leave I found their back right car tire flat as a pancake. Had to argue him into going to the tire shop after I put the donut on. Waited while they replaced 2 12 year old tires. Finally back home.

Life is busy here. I’m sitting at the hospital as my mom has surgery. It’s among my first breaks in a while where I actually got on here to post instead of reading or resting. It has been a very wet summer. It has dried up, I broke ground, and I hope to plant a fall/winter garden next week.

Hey, where was that thread where we were talking scary movies? There are a couple of good ones on tonight.
Triology of Terror (Karen Black stars in it)
Gargoyles
I haven’t seen either one in nearly 40 years maybe longer. I think Gargoyles is from the early 70’s and the other one is from 1975.
They are both hilarious, Especially Triology of Terror! The final scene in Triology of Terror is over the top funny, where she’s chasing that little voodoo doll around with a butcher knife.
I was visiting kinfolk in Arkansas when we watched Gargoyles. We made a huge dish pan of popcorn and all us sit around the TV laughing and cutting up.

I love Karen Black, and if you have not seen it, I suggest that you watch Burnt Offerings, a 1976 horror where Karen Black really shines.
