I've got to check and see if my crockpot is still functional. I will be doing cream cheese corn as I have already cooked a turkey a seek early. Also just checked my mail and found out that my retiree health insurance will be going up again the first of the year. Bought Dad a Shark vacuum cleaner for Christmas. He claims that there's nothing wrong with his Rainbow but I know what a production it is to set up. Grass and dirt get tracked in several times a day when he walks their Boston Terrier.

I went to Aldi's when they opened, this morning - more crowded than usual, but nothing bad. No prices were down, like in an Aldi someone else reported on, at another forum.

Made my last pre-Thanksgiving trip to hel...err, the grocery store this morning. At least I sincerely HOPE that it was my last pre-Thanksgiving trip to the grocery store. I did the same thing and spent another $100. I thought that I had absolutely everything I needed but when I got home I realized that I forgot milk for Thursday's mashed potatoes. grrr For tonight's dinner I bought a custom 12" pizza that I will cook at home. I got a veggie one with light cheese and will add salads. We got one of their ready made ones last summer and it was good but had WAY too much cheese so this time I asked them to only use 1/2 as much.

Today I string up the outside Christmas decorations. I will not turn them on until after Thanksgiving but it may currently be 28° it is supposed to get up to 54° (stupid weather) and I would rather put the decorations up when it is nice out!

I am about to get into the kitchen and get serious with cooking. I am planning to do as much of the cooking and prep as possible today, so tomorrow isn't too stressful. Especially since I am hosting at my home this time.
That always makes me anxious, even if it is just my kids and the in-laws coming.

Turkey is thawed and prepped; no worries about dealing with a frozen bird on Thanksgiving morning - whew! Soon I will be putting the turkey into the roaster - my MIL's Oster Roaster, which I borrowed for the occasion. Hope everyone else's Thanksgiving morning is going well.

I didn't have much left to do, here. I cut those brownies up, and took the container out to my car - I have absolutely no willpower with those things! I did eat 2 of the smallest, mis-figured ones (not that I needed an excuse) while cutting them, and I know I would have eaten more, had they still been in the kitchen.

I haven't done much yet so far. I did order one item for one of my sons for Christmas. Now I am enjoying a quiet moment, drinking some water and relaxing for a bit before I start to getting ready for the family Christmas decorating party today. Every year I forget how many dishes and how much cleanup are involved in hosting a holiday. My kitchen is mostly back in order, but still not 100%. And of course the fridge is stuffed with leftovers! But at least the abundance of leftover food means minimal cooking will be needed for the next few days.

Same here Laura_in_FL , I am currently running a full dishwasher and the clothes washer is running the Thanksgiving tablecloth and the multitude of kitchen towels that I used yesterday. The Christmas tablecloth now is on the dining room table and I may do a little shopping on Amazon while drinking coffee.

After the first Thanksgiving spent somewhere besides home in many years...and it was a diet buster...today we watched granddaughter play a super hockey game. She is defense and really played well. Her team won their first game of the weekend tournament and will play again Saturday and again Sunday. A long but enjoyable weekend.
And they won their second game on Saturday so a Sunday evening game finals. So we stay in the frozen north one more night.

Well today we put up a small dog pen and bought a house for my dad's Boston Terrier. She refuses to go potty on a leash and without a leash would run all over the neighborhood. Dad had been walking her a hundred years back to an old dog pen and letting her stay in her designated potty for a while 3 or so times a day. Well Thanksgiving Day he started to take her out before daylight, tripped on a tree root, and landed on the crown of his head wrenching his neck and possibly spraining his shin. Fixed that. The new dog pen is twenty feet from the back door within the back yard lighting.

I went out with my leaf blower/sucker, and sucked up 4 (maybe 5?) more bags of leaves; there's still some in one area, but the sun was going down, and it's amazing how cool it got quickly! It's supposed to rain a lot tomorrow, so I wanted to get the leaves on the lawn, and against the house at all out of there, and any on that side with the garlic I got out, though I'll put some more of the ground leaves on some areas where it's a little thinner. The garlic is looking great, and every time I look, I see fewer empty spots.

Today one of our grandson's turned 8 and had his party at the bounce house. Lordy! There were about 6 or 7 different kids having parties so there were kids running amok everywhere. Had a total blast but was sure glad to get back in the quiet car lol

So today, my brother, bless his heart, had me driving all over creation. First he ordered a meat tray and needed to pick it up. Off we go in the right direction but passed the location 20 minutes earlier and it was 45 minutes away to start with. Turn around and go back 20 minutes, pick up the tray and head 45 minutes back home. THEN he decides he needs to go to the bakery almost an hour away to buy cookies. Another 2 hour trip >,< Thank goodness my car gets reasonable, sadly not great, gas mileage. Now he did buy about 14 dozen cookies. Spent over $100 on cookies.

I went to the dentist this morning for a follow-up. The doc said that my bone graft is healing very well and scheduled the next stage of my implant (installing the actual titanium base/anchor in my jaw) for the first week of January.

Implants are such a long process Laura_in_FL , I got my implant the week before all dental offices in PA were shut down during the pandemic. My follow up visit was cancelled but everything was OK since I had to wait for weeks of healing before getting the crown anyway. I am just lucky that I did not have any problems that required the dentist during that period. Everything is fine now and I can not even tell which tooth is the fake one.

Howdy, y’all!
No, I’m not yet deceased but am extremely busy.
My mom is getting radiation 5 days/week, and I’m her main driver. With other appointments, days have stretched to 11 hours at times. This leaves little time for gardening.
TK and I did pick some mustard and turnip greens today. They’re sorely neglected and a bit buggy,so I’ll have to address that.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and I hope to be back early next year.

I dropped off my vehicle at the dealer this morning for some recall work and warranty service. They said that the recall work will get done, but they may not have the parts for the warranty service. Oh, and they might not even have the right technician available today to read the codes and determine how to fix the warranty problem. My warranty service is for a common problem, and I made the appointment WEEKS ago. It boggles me that they may not have parts and possibly not even the right technician working today. So what purpose did it serve for me to make an appointment over a month ago?!? Then they started talking about keeping my car for up to 5 days. I said nope to that - when I made the appointment they told me the work would be done by the end of the day, so I didn't make arrangements for alternate transportation. I told them to get done what they can and give me back my car at EOB. If necessary, I will make another appointment to come back when they have the technician/parts to do the rest. Meh, at least the recalls should get done today.

That dealer has taken the "service" out of service work. A report to the dealership's company would be in order. That will get your work done very quickly...by that dealer or by another nearby with the term, "bending over backwards with incentives" involved.

The company has been promising to update the buggy software to the current only slightly buggy software for a year and a half. They will have to replace the 12 Volt battery and spend a minimum of 10 hours of technician time baby sitting a computer download. As of last Friday they hadn't received the software, the repairmen hadn't received any training and I will be without my car for a minimum of 2 days(no mention of a loaner). They said that they might receive the software Tuesday(yesterday). I suggested that they practice with the used vehicle in their showroom. I think their theme music is by Insane Clown Party.

mgulfcoastguy, Laura_in_FL, a few years ago, when my vehicle was recalled (possibly defective airbags), I asked for a replacement car and I got it. I told them that I had a 3 day out-of-town vacation planned, and that it could not be postponed (all true). Since the vehicle loaned to me was brand new out of the lot, they did the repairs in record time. I am sure it was a relatively small, fast repair, but I am also sure that the dealership manager couldn't wait to get the loaner back. Frankly, I don't understand how dealerships can expect to leave a customer without transportation for an extended period of time. That is unacceptable in my book.

So, the recalls were done yesterday, but the warranty service was not. And the dealer still has my car. Turns out they did have a technician look at it, but the tech said that there was no sign of the speakers used to produce the pedestrian alert sounds. Not only were the speakers not there, there was no sign that any pedestrian alert speakers had ever been installed. I told them that there must be speakers, because the car used to make the sounds! It only stopped making the sounds several weeks ago - at the same time that the dash display started showing the warning message. When he told my husband about it last night, he said that he had read that Ford changed the location where they mount the pedestrian alert speakers between the 2020 and 2021 model years. Hubby guessed that my car is probably the first 2021 model year that has been brought in to our local dealer with this problem. (Sometimes being first is not good. ) So, the tech was probably looking in the 2020 speaker location. Anyway, the tech has sent an email to Ford asking what to do. Hopefully Ford will tell them where to look. If not, I will pass on what DH read. By the way, the dealer said I could get my car back yesterday afternoon, but that would put me at the back of the line for service, and I would have to wait several more weeks for another appointment. So I reluctantly chose to let them keep my car overnight. This is definitely not changing my long-held opinion about dealer "service." Unless I need recall or warranty service, the dealer is just about the LAST place I will take my car for repairs.

So, I got my car back, temporarily. Seems it was the speaker that was defective. The speaker was mounted in a hidden spot behind the bumper, so they had to take the bumper and some other parts off to get to it. But they have to order the speaker, and they'll call me when it's in to make a new appointment to actually get it replaced. For just a wee bit of extra Christmas cheer, now the check engine light is always on. Apparently it's because they left that defective speaker unhooked. They swear it's fine and the car is safe to drive. OK, sure. But it's a good thing the vehicle is <2 years old, so it's unlikely that something else will go wrong (that I won't get warned about because the check engine light is already on) while I wait for the repair to get done. I also took my 2nd son to get a recall taken care of on his vehicle today. Fortunately that went smoothly and he had his car back before lunch. After lunch I made a batch of snickerdoodles. I always make those at some point during the Christmas season, so baking them helps me feel more festive.

Anyhow I haven't received an email that they are ready to update my vehicle. Reading some of the horror stories from owners in other parts of the US I am perfectly willing to with. Although , as another owner said, the Ides of March are approaching.

Now I am going to jinx my latest vehicle. Since 1991 we have owned two Camrys, a Highlander and we are on our 4th RAV4. None have ever been inside a dealership or any other repair shop for anything but regular service...oil changes, tire rotation or replacing tires. In 1991 we were looking to buy a new Pontiac but the salesman looked at me and my wife at the new car lot and told us the under $1000 used cars were down the block. Not being very impressed we walked a block to the Toyota dealership, took a ride in a Camry, signed the papers because the deal was too good to pass up. We waited for about half an hour and my wife drove the new Toyota home. She drove past the Pontiac dealer and gave hime a long toot on the new horn.
That began the long history of never going into a garage for repairs. I have been lucky with a Ford Ranger and a Chevrolet Silverado, 20003 and 2012...no repairs and one recall. I would love to have a Toyota Tacoma but on a fixed income can't afford one. Drive the Chevy 'til either it or me drops dead.

Yes, Toyotas have a rock solid reliability record. Unfortunately, I loathe our local Toyota dealership and I refuse to deal with them again.
Anyway, I don't have a whole lot on tap for today. I might go check the local nurseries for pecan trees this afternoon. If I can find two good varieties here, it will be a lot cheaper than buying them online because shipping is so expensive.
