That's crazy, W8in. Where was that? Up north? Or once you got back home? It was actually b4 we went up north. We go grocery shopping at Kroger, depending on how much you buy they have a card and you earn points for your gas price. some times they have 4X's points Woot!! it all goes towards your points to get money off gas. My friend takes care of her elderly parents, they have pharmacy stuff in the 1000's so she racks up points big time!! she cannot use them all so she give some to me! Woot!!

The last time oil was at $32/bbl gas was $1.40. We are stuck at $1.89 in Nebraska. Is it 49 cents more tax or does the gas price lag so far behind the oil trading price? If oil were to go up a dollar you can bet the farm gas would go up within hours. Regulation would cost politicians billions in donations so don't look for a political solution.

$1.54 per gallon fill up yesterday here in NorthWest Alabama. In South Alabama, it is already flirting with $1.40/gallon.

We're $1.65 in town today. My brother says there is a huge spread between the wholesale and retail price of gasoline. Sure sounds like a huge lag.

Gas is at $1.62 today. w8in4dave-Yesterday, in Houghton Lake, Michigan, gas wars broke out with the price going as low as 47¢ a gallon!!! That's around 65 miles from here. In 2008, we had a Beacon & Bridge Market open a gas station in town. They were our fourth station and kept prices down for a while. They were a penny or two less than the others and were the first to drop prices. All of a sudden, they were in lockstep on pricing and eventually closed. They must have gotten "the talk" and kept their prices the same as the rest. We're back to three gas stations; when I was a kid we had 13. The B&B station was bought up and the gas tanks dug out of the ground in December. Won't be any competition there. fox17online.com/2016/01/17/no-joke-gas-is-47-cents-per-gallon-in-one-michigan-town/www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2016/01/price_war_plunges_gas_to_less.html

w8in4dave stratcat Laura_in_FL I saw that article too, Laura. Strat, lots of people from here will drive an hour and cross the border to buy cheap gas. With prices like that, maybe you should go get yourself some? W8in, are there huge lineups? Or just a little more than normal?

We have $1.57 today. My brother was in Houghton Lake Monday and filled up at $1.34. For me, that's too far to go for gas. Now, if I were entering the beard contest at Tip-Up Town in Houghton Lake???

I have plenty of options for gas at $1.60 or less. Statewide average in Alabama is $1.61. There are quite a few stations in the $1.45 range, mostly on interstates and near large cities. Cheapest in the state is $1.35 in South Alabama.

Gas finally went below $1.80 here - I've seen it as low as $1.78 (without using any special discounts). It's probably cheaper than that at Sam's, but I haven't been over that way lately.

I can drive 15 miles south and it is 5-10 cents cheaper. 25-30 miles NW, and it's a quarter higher. Strange

It's back up to $1.85 here. Maybe I didn't get such a big jump in price because I never got the big reduction in price that some of you had.
