It's unseasonably warm here, too. Highs in the lower 70s, and worse, lows in the upper 50s and low 60s for the next week. If this keeps up, I will lose my apple crop for the second year in a row. The apple trees aren't even fully dormant yet. Even though they are low-chill apples, they need a few weeks of consistent very cool to cold weather. Normally those few cold weeks happen right about now. Worse, I might lose the peach crop as well. The peach tree is dormant, but if it stays warm like this it is going to break bud. Then the blossoms or baby fruit will get burned by an all-but-inevitable freeze. <sigh>

Been raining for a few days now. Ground is fairly saturated, but even tho there are flash flood advisories, we don't seem to be in danger around here. Rain has at times been very heavy, but mostly just light all-day rains.
Temps will slowly rise to low 70'sF by Saturday and Sunday night drop to mid 40's. Rest of this week is supposed to be cloudy to partly cloudy with chance of rain turning to storms again by weekend. through Tuesday. Temps will be in 50'sF daytime with low 40's/ high 30's night-time next week with skies clearing.
Our normal January rainy season around here.
Hope you get some colder weather for your fruit trees Laura.

Wednesday, we had 44F(7C) with lots of wind. Today, we had 39F(4C). Both days were sunny, so our snow is pretty much gone.
We're under a Freezing Rain Advisory tonight. On Friday and Saturday, we're supposed to be 50F(10C) and over. I'll be digging out the shorts!

Friday was a little rainy and not as warm as I had hoped. Above freezing all night. Today we had 55F(13C) and mostly sunny. Great shorts weather, so I got out for a total of 5km of walking.
We're under a Winter Weather Advisory tonight. Looks like we'll get some rain and freezing rain with sleet mixed in. A low around the freezing mark. Sunday a wintry mix is possible with steady temperatures.

Saturday night was the 2nd night in a row above freezing. Some more rain. Temperatures stayed above freezing all day and around dark we started to get some snow. There was a little accumulation and the roads were slushy. It's getting cold tonight. Last night in the deep South, there were some tornadoes and tonight a Freezing Rain Advisory in the same area. That really shows the fight between the hot and cold air masses that give us active weather.

Still getting rain daily. Now cold too. Ground is very saturated, with a thin layer of standing water in many places.
High today of 45F low of 38F. Highs for next couple of days to be low-mid 40's and lows to be walking down to around freezing as the week progresses.
We are in the grips of our winter now.

You guys need to share that cool weather with me, else I am going to be swatting mosquitoes in January!
67F at 9:50pm, heading for a low of 61 and back up to 74 tomorrow. Though the forecasters say we are in for a cooldown by the end of the week...I hope they are right.

We stayed under freezing all day. I got out for a brisk walk and picked up the mail. Tonight it's 11F(-12C) and downright cold out.

We had a low this morning of 8.5F(-13C) and it never got above freezing. Had to take a road trip and Lake Huron had open water. There was a little ice near shore and we saw two pair of large white swans. They were even sticking their heads under water!
Keep an eye on that ice storm tonight, dld.

Congratulations! (Or are you far enough South to get excited about snow?) Rain is about done here, currently overcast and 47F. Our high today was 54 - at about 7:30 a.m. Lows in the upper 30s expected tonight. Seasonable weather is back for the next week! Highs in the 50s and lower 60s, lows in the 30s and lower 40s.

Purdy pic DLD!
Laura, all you had to do is grumble about the warm season, and ya started gettin yer chill hours! ;D
We had 30F (or it may have even been a little colder) when I woke up this morning. Any standing water had a sheet of ice. Vehicles had a thick layer of frost. No precipitation per se, but I think the temp dip pulled a lot of moisture out of the air. Air seems a lot more dry today. I think we went well into the 50'sF during the day.

Well, the arctic air has reached us. We had 4F(-15.5C) this morning and clear skies. Now it's 24F(-4C) out with a light snow falling.
Tonight, we're slated to get some freezing drizzle mixed in with a little snow. Temperatures rising to the freezing mark by 2a.

Right now we're having some thunder snow! That's right; lightning while it's snowing. Just above freezing.
Starting raining a little two hour's ago when I was out walking. Was warm today and above freezing. Gets cold tonight and then below average temps for next week.

Thunder snow must be really weird. The very few times I have seen snow falling, it was a beautiful and peaceful experience.
(Obviously I have never experienced a howling blizzard, either.)

I really get a kick out of thunder snow. I've hardly ever seen it.
My brother called me last night to tip me off 'cause he was surprised by it. When the wind kicked up, I was ready. Snow started falling and I even saw the lightning.
Last night, I called my big nephew that lives an hour-and-one-half away. He was excited and brought up that he saw thunder snow!

We usually get "thunder" snow in the spring time here. It is more common than people realize.
I was in the right spot at the right time on Thursday and got to see an inch of snow for about 4 hours! Snow today and gone tonight! What a great combination. Well, we are dipping into the deep freeze tomorrow night. Having to weatherproof the house Monday. Don;t want the pipes to freeze.... It will be dropping down into the upper teens, brrrrrrr (for the south).

Brr! Stay warm, Izit! It got up to about 70 today here, with lots of sun. Currently 56F and clear at about 8:30 p.m., heading for low-mid 40s overnight. Tomorrow will be almost as warm, but a little more cloudy.

Yeowch Izit! Stay warm. We've only seen the teens once that I can remember in the last several years.
Strat, I can't even imagine 4F.
We're in the 40'sF at night and 60'sF daytime. Clear last couple days. Fair amount of fog this morning.

I just got in from feeding the birds at Mom's place. The snow is squeaking underfoot and it's 8.4F(-13C) out. There's 6 male Cardinals out fussing and feeding.
We had a low this morning of -4F(-20C). I slept through that.

Brr, Strat! We had a nice seasonable low of 36F and there was frost on the rooftops and grass this morning when I took the kids to school. It's 50F and sunny now at 9am, heading for the low 60s. Nice get outside and putter in the garden weather. The cool season veggies love these mild days and sunshine.

Well, it dropped down to 14' which is quite chilly here! I know it is often the high for those north of the Mason Dixon line. But the temp rebound is amazing. It is already 42 and still climbing.
