The rain finally got here at about 9:20 pm, and in just over 20 minutes, I had gotten over half an inch, with a lot more coming. The thunder and lightning stopped, so far, so I'll get back to cutting tomatoes for the dehydrator - have almost 5 trays filled, but I move away from the sink, when there's lightning! Temperature down to 80°, probably lower, and more rain now.
UD - a little after 10, when I started cutting again, it had rained 1.0", and the temp was down to 74°; the temp was the same, and the rain was up to 1.16" when I put the 6 trays in the dehydrator at around 10:35, and the rain had slowed considerably, but the worst is forecast for later. This time, trusting the forecast, I delayed my watering timers, and will probably delay them again.

Rained all day yesterday stopping around midnight. No rain today, sort of sunny skies with a tiny bit of wind. Initially weather people were saying we would get 30 inches of rain but now they're calling for 5 inches of rain tomorrow and 40 mile wind gusts.

Gosh. That's just terrible. The weather person was correct this time - we got 5 inches of rain. Thankfully I live on a hill with great drainage so no problem for me. Our internet service was out for about 12 hours so I had to read a book instead of watching TV How weird the quiet was.

Cool front through here as well but it is getting very dry again. From very hot and wet to very cool and very dry. We may get a little rain Sunday and then back to warmer...actually normal heat for August. And the tomatoes are ripening; yeah!

It started raining shortly after 9 am, but I don't know how long it is going to last, and it's not heavy, yet. Just heavy enough to rise the humidity more, and it was already 85%, at 75°, when I got up, at about 8:20. Heavier rain supposed to come tomorrow.

We had some strong storms roll through last night starting about 2am. The storms contained LOTS of lightning, more than I have seen in years. But thankfully we didn't have any no tornadoes or damaging winds. It wasn't particularly scary to me (none of the lightning strikes were dangerously close), but the noise and flashes made it impossible to sleep for a while. And one of my cats was scared (the other one didn't seem to mind). We got about a half-inch of rain last night and a little more during the day today.
The good news besides the much-needed rain is that this was actually a front rolling through. High temperatures will only be about 5 degrees lower but the dewpoint, which has been ~75-77 degrees most afternoons, will drop to the mid-60s. With less humidity it should be a lot more tolerable outside for a couple of days.

Well, it's 8/20, and today's high is 74F, and tonight's low is forecast to be 46F. I cannot remember the last time it was this cool in mid-August. A farmer went by this morning on his tractor, and he had a jacket on!

I got up to 73° here today (!), and is supposed to get down to 56° overnight, and the humidity is very low. Something like the middle or end of September, according to the weatherman. Another couple of days forecast in the 70s, slowly going up to average mid 80s, but then above average again. I knew it was too good to last.

It's still 69° here, at 11:50 am, after it got down to 55°, and only supposed to get up to 74° all over this area today. Unbelievable for this time of year. Still not out of the woods yet - in last summer, which was mild, we had more 90+ days in September than in the other months: 12.

A little warmer today, but still only got to 77°, and very low humidity, so I won't complain! And the 10 day forecast no longer has any 90+ days on it - 88° is the highest, and just once, so again, I won't complain! Very little rain forecast, and it's already dry out there, as I discovered when mowing my lawn.

It's been exceptionally cool here lately, but it looks like that stuff out in the midwest might be heading this way, with 90° and 95° the next two days, and the humidity is going up with it. Only 84° yesterday, with higher humidity, and 87° the forecast high for today. Scattered thunderstorms, due to the humidity, but very scattered, so I'm not turning off the timers.

100F, feels like 115F. Second day of extreme heat and humidity. Supposed to abate beginning tomorrow. All tomatoes are now on stand-by and we are staying inside except to move the sprinklers around.

The HI "only" got to 103° here today (not like some of those horrible ones I've seen listed elsewhere), with with a high of 96°, so the humidity wasn't super high - only 44%, and later even lower. Possible rain keeps getting pushed later, but again, I'm not turning off my timers. I only went out to harvest those chives, and much earlier, the okra, out front, but I'd rather work when it's cooler out there!

We got about a quarter of an inch of rain in a brief thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. Very welcome! we have a chance at another storm this afternoon, then a sunny hot weekend and Labor Day. The Chamber of Commerce could not have hoped for a better forecast to bring tourists to the beach got the last big weekend of summer.
But next week, from Tuesday on, the forecast shows strong rain chances every day...I hope it's right! The soil is drrryyyy. We could use a good solid drenching.

Some nice light rain this evening and it sounds like the high heat will break. Maybe no need to water the flowers tomorrow. Still too humid to shut off the AC but getting closer to comfortable. This rain while very welcome means the weeds and the grass will do very well. Lawn mowing time again after a couple of weeks off because of the heat and lack of rain.

Yesterday, while it wasn't very warm here - only got to 76° here, but the humidity was disgusting! It was around 78-79%, every time I'd check. After doing a bunch in the kitchen, I finally broke down and turned on the AC, and had to turn it down some, just to get the humidity out of the air. The temperature outside didn't go down a lot overnight, but today the humidity went down a little, and later, around 3 pm, a front came through, with only .05" of rain, but the temp came down to 65°, and later even lower, with only 60% humidity (usually this goes up, when the temp drops!). And eventually, it got below 60°, and it is supposed to get into the lower 50s later. And only 72° for a high tomorrow, with much lower humidity for a couple of days, before the AC will be needed again.

So cold here! The temperature started to drop yesterday evening for real, although we had gorgeous weather during the day, and it reached some 44ºF during the night. It's 10:45am now and the temperature is only 56ºF, with almost no humidity. I do like this weather myself, sunny, crisp and dry, but I am wondering what it will do to tender plants like basil and peppers. The sad part is, 90º weather is, again, in the forecast.

It got down to 53° at some point last night, and is just getting to 65°, close to noon. Humidity is WAY down this morning - humidity 40%, last time I looked, and no clouds at all. No rain forecast in the entire 10 day, and it's getting much warmer after today.

First Frost Advisory of the season issued for last night. I guess I'll see if the garden got hit, when I head down there in a little bit.
Now, it is still EARLY SEPTEMBER, right? Geez.

We got down to about 42F for a couple of nights, official airport temperature was to 38F. Three or four days were in the mid to high 60's, but this week temperatures are rising higher every day and supposed to reach 87F by Thursday. Tomatoes are about done due to disease. Onions pulled and drying. Beans are growing a 3rd larger picking and more blossoms coming, so they need watering, no decent rain in weeks. Three more red cabbages to harvest. Lots of peppers to chop for freezing. Started the squash and melons very late, so this heat may help mature a few. Just one Blacktail Mountain melon anywhere near mature size, cantaloupes only half sized so probably will not make it. Winter squash has growing to do as well, a toss-up. The late start was my fault, as the summer weather would have been perfect for them. Frost by mid September was usual up here, but in the last 10 years or so, we've been able to hang in there until October most years.

Hope the weather wasn't too rough for the LA/MS folks with that hurricane. Over here, the instability ahead of the hurricane and the moisture being pulled in behind it have given us about 10 days of gray and wet weather. However, we didn't get as much rain as forecast, so no flooding issues. Also, we didn't get any strong storms or damaging wind this far east, so that was nice. A lot of mist and drizzle, with some real rain mixed in. Good for soaking into the ground! And after how hot and dry August was, we needed it! The sun looks like it wants to peek out now, and tomorrow should also be mostly sunny. However, it looks like more wet and gray weather Sunday through Wednesday. Later next week the forecast is for sun, lower humidity, and light breezes. So although it will still be hot (upper 80s highs) the heat index is forecast to only reach the low 90s. That is very tolerable after the July and August sauna conditions. Should be a good time to start catching up in the garden.

No rain to speak of here, and no more forecast, except for those small amounts that end up skipping the area. Today, I put down the strip of T-tape where my garlic will get planted, and let it run 2 hours, then moved it over a foot, and let it run again, to soak the ground, as it was rock hard, and couldn't even run the 'tiller on it. Normally I don't even put the irrigation line down until spring! It was hot for this time - 85°, and humid again, but it's supposed to get better. But then, it was supposed to rain, too.

Yeah, it turned out hotter and drier here than the earlier forecast, too. Low 90s actual highs and pretty humid, leading to an mid to upper 90s heat index each day. Blech. Not the misery of last month, but definitely unpleasantly hot for this late in September. No rain chance in the forecast until next Thursday.
Eh, the weather will turn eventually. I am just hoping for no major hurricanes this year. /crossing fingers
