First 'real' cool front came through with 40 mph winds, knocking all those dang little pine cones out of the trees, and laying over everything taller than a foot. Broke one branch off my lone bell pepper plant, and knocked over my BIG plumeria! Thankfully, this time, it didn't break! This morning, 44 degrees, and will warm up to the upper 70's. I have 20 little tomatoes on the vine, which I am pouring the fertilizer to so they'll get big enough to pick before a BIG cold front comes in.

We had high 4O's today and grey out. May get our first frost, so I spent some hours picking, carrying plants and covering until well after dark.

Well, we finally got our first frost last night. This is really late in the season. I have some tomatoes and my pepper farm covered.
I've found that if I cover with a sheet, and then a blanket on top, it's possible to get plants through below freezing temps.

Today (Thursday) we had a high around 50F(1OC). It had rained a little, so it was chilly. The sun came out late in the day. Geese flew over my yard near dark.
Wednesday, we had 63F(17C), so it was back in shorts to work outside. I saw two dragonflies. Had a bumblebee and honeybee on White Asters in Mom's backyard.

Right before noon we got our first taste of winter with snow pellets. Then some rain and right now huge snow flakes. Ugh!

Today we had mid-50's with some sun. Back into shorts, no socks and a T-shirt for cleaning up after my garden. Raked some leaves, too. Got quite a ways to go.

Today was kinda warm at 60F. VERY WINDY this morning. As I was walking across a parking lot, the strong winds coming in from the west literally hit my face and took my breath away. I had to put my hands up over my nose to catch a breath!

At 7p, I got back from my mile(1.6km) walk and it was still 60F(15.5C) out! Spent a good five hours outside today. Pulled tomato stakes, cages and plants from ~40 containers on my backyard lawn. Used my garden cart to get those containers up to the garage for the winter. Had the rake going again.
We had big wind today, too. The fight between the hot and the cold air masses.
Love this weather! ;D

It's a typical fall day in the Carolinas. It is 73', sunny and a light breeze. Great for working out in the y ard or garden.

Yesterday, the high was 80. At 4:30 pm on my patio it was 77 degrees, slight breeze, perfect for an adult beverage and watching the kitten chase the butterflies...cold front supposedly coming through tonight.
