Do you have three tall sticks that you can tie together at the top and make a teepee?

brownrexx, Yeah, Me and wife was going to do it yesterday afternoon, but a Bee hit me in the neck. We have a another swarm of those in an old shed and they are such a nuisance. Me, Mom and Uncle have all been hit. They have hit me twice! I hate to do it, but they gotta go! We have a bunch of Bumblebees too, but they leave us alone.

Are they honey bees? If so, you could probably get a local beekeeper to take them rather than killing them.

Laura_in_FL, Yeah they are. This will make the third time they have taken a swarm away. You can't hardly walk near that old shed what they don't pop ya. I need to make the call and ask them to come and take them away again. I know how important bees are, but they have always been a nuisance here. About 10 or 12 years ago. I thought a jet was flying over. Wasn't a jet, it was a cloud of bees. One of the only times I've been scared. They were between me and the house. I walked slowly across the joining field and off into the woods for awhile. They swarmed in a tree for a couple of days then moved into my workshop. A fellow came and got them and all was good for a few months then another swarm came and moved into the wall of our house. Again we had them removed and this time we've had them in our shed for quite awhile cause I got popped last summer. Mom got popped a couple months ago and Uncle and I got popped this week. I'm sick if these Dadgum bees!

Wow, you must have a great bee habitat in your area!
Hopefully you get peace for a while after this hive is removed.
There are some articles out on the internet about how to discourage bees and wasps from nesting in sheds. Steps like sealing cracks and openings, painting (to cover the smell of bee pheromones which can attract new bees), screening off any vents, and if your shed is off the ground, installing fine mesh screening from the bottom of the shed all the way to the ground so bees can't get underneath, can all make your shed harder or less attractive for new bees to re-colonize.

I went to the link that you posted and the fake wasp nest has "limited weather resistance" and you're supposed to take it inside when it rains. In the Florida summer, rain happens every 2-3 days or even more often, and rain can begin with very little warning. As one of the reviews said, "FAIL." Your T-shirt bag idea is a good one, though.

Your T-shirt bag idea is a good one, though. Yep and they're waterproof, renewed once a year in the spring.

It's one of those flimsy plastic bags they pack your groceries in:). Take one stuff it with others, spray paint it light grey and hang it up. When it starts to disintegrate make another. if in a protected area out of the sun they last a couple of seasons. Hey, my Piekny Jas are starting to climb, doing the happy dance.

My 3 plants are about 5 feet up the netting, the leaves are just starting to develop. The first leaves had a bit of slug/snail damage where the hit the wood of the raised bed they're in but otherwise doing great. The gal in the UK I was looking for this variety in the first place is very happy to have the ones I sent her. She was running into the same trouble as we were finding the real deal. I was so glad I could help her out thanks to you Spike . She found and sent me the Sarah's Old Fashioned Black I'd been searching years for. The seed looks almost identical to Cherokee Trail of Tears but the plants are different. Leaves are a darker green and have red veins. Can't find much info on them so I'm keeping track of there growth habits, flowers and pods as they develop. I'm hoping it's another good snap bean. It was grown here in Canada at one time but has disappeared, I hope to send seed to Seeds of Diversity for safe keeping. Annette

Spike knows already, but my mailed package never came; it's been missing along with a package from MissS, too. I spoke with the mail lady and described the packages, but no luck.
So, grow those out and this year will be a "watch 'em grow" year for me. Love seeing the pictures of both these and how they turn out and the gigandes, too. Anyone have a source for the gigandes beans? Are they also a runner?

@imp , I have Gigandes stored in the freezer, I last grew them in 2013, yes they're runners.
Freshly harvested seed
I didn't record how many Gigandes I kept for seed but I'm sure I can spare a few. As to my Piekny Jas the three I planted they are up and away and just starting to form flowers now, if all goes well I can probably send you a few in the fall. Message me your complete mailing addy and I'll see what I can do, sending to the US can be iffy but so far I haven't had a problem .

Thanks Annette, I am just so excited to see if the beans come up as they should for ya'll! I'll send you my address and try the runners next spring since they like it cooler and we are in the summer sweat-a-thon now until September.

@imp, I pulled the jar from the freezer, will let them thaw for a couple of days before I package them up. I could send more but I want to keep the envelope on the flat side but enough to get you started. These cook up beautifully, they have such thin skins and pick up flavors well. I'll let you know when they're in the mail, all I ask in return is when you have enough share with others. Annette

I just received a progress report from the gal (Beans and Herbs) in the U.K. who I sent 5 of the 8 Piekny Jas spike sent me. Of the 5, 4 germinated and she is growing them in a pot in her courtyard to make sure they don't cross. She also found Piekny at a Polish deli over there but they don't look like the ones I sent, much smaller. So far they are doing great and she hopes to get a decent seed crop from them in the fall. A picture of her pot...
My three vines are up and over their netting and popping flowers left and right, hoping to see a few pods soon.

spike, my three plants are doing great, loads of pods and still flowering so should have a fair amount of seed to share in the fall if all goes well. We need to get this one spread around as it seems the one you sent me is the only real Piekny Jas this side of the pond. My gardening days are winding down so if I can help in spreading this one around I'll be a happy camper. Annette

Newly shelled handful of PJ pods hubby just brought in, lots more to come.
My three plants have really produced. Some of the seed is smooth and shiny, some feels a little pebbly, maybe due the really hot weather we've had. Will be letting them air dry for awhile before packaging up.
